_Karakuri_ were the first Japanese ‘robots’ – or ‘automata’ – invented in the 17th Century. _Karakuri_ means ‘mechanisms’, in Japanese it’s used to describe any device that evokes a sense of awe through concealment of its inner workings.

Today at Karakuri we’re building the software, robotics and sensing systems to power the restaurants of the future.

The combination of robotics, cost effective sensing and AI has transformed many production and manufacturing processes. At Karakuri, we are taking this into restaurants to automate cooking processes to deliver quality, consistency and mass-customisation to diners.

Our technology reduces food waste, ensures 100% consistent food quality, promotes customer customisation of the menu and provides total transparency about the source and quality of the ingredients used.
