Honey is Australia’s first smart home insurance dedicated to preventing avoidable accidents that happen in the home. We do this through a re-imagined approach to home insurance that lets customers easily sign-up for the right level of cover by using satellite and third-party data. We then provide customers with smart home technology to help protect their homes, while rewarding them for being proactive.

When Honey Founder and CEO Richard Joffe (see: Park Assist and [Stella.ai](http://stella.ai/)) moved to Australia in 2019, he loved everything about it - except one thing. Applying for home and contents insurance felt like traveling back in time 30 years. The sign-up process was slow, unsophisticated and the small fine print left him clueless as to whether he was even covered sufficiently. Plus, the local insurance companies only contacted him when it came time for renewal - nobody was adding value during the year to keep him and his family safe. He discovered that 80% of Australians were underinsured and he was shocked at how businesses focused on heavily discounting new customers to get them in the door and then hiked the prices up the next year. He knew there was a better way and he quickly set his sights on creating home and contents insurance that protects customers and is fast and easy to not only buy - but claim. Insurance that’s always fairly priced and simple to understand. Honey was founded to provide the only smart home and contents designed for how Aussies live today.
