Requirements
Primary (Essential) Duties:
Determine unit condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic tests, identifying deficiencies.
Complete engine overhauls as well as other repairs identified during the diagnostic process.
Verify performance by conducting sea trials and making necessary adjustments as needed.
Contains costs by using warranty; evaluating service & parts options.
Maintains engine and vessel records with an accurate documentation of service and repairs.
Maintain a safe & organized work environment.
Accepts ownership for accomplishing new & different requests; explores value add opportunities.
Performs MTU engine commissioning trials.
Communicate while on site with customers in a professional manner.

Provide guidance, assistance and training to apprentice marine technicians as needed.

Principal Responsibilities
The Project Engineer has broad responsibilities for supporting Solutionwerks and its customers with technical services for the evaluation, operation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of plants and equipment for the production, delivery, and use of industrial gases. The incumbent will provide these services both in Solutionwerks’ offices as well as at customer sites throughout the U.S.
The Project Engineer manages the customer interface and the supply of goods and services as required by Solutionwerks’ customers. Project engineers will also be on-site performing hands-on work ranging from process engineering to maintenance. Key accountabilities include relationship management, budget, schedule, and quality compliance.
Specific tasks for which the Project Engineer is responsible include:

What you will do:
Perform field inspections of generators. Determine generator condition by conducting inspections & diagnostic tests.
Identify and repair problems with electrical and mechanical systems. Perform load bank test, calculate KW for testing.
Complete tune-ups and/or the repairs identified during the diagnostic process.
Troubleshoot & repair AC and DC controls and equipment such as engine controllers, Automatic Voltage Regulators, battery chargers, block heaters, automatic transfer switches and switchgear.
Troubleshoot & repair diesel and gaseous engines.

Load test batteries, check and repair charging systems.
Verify generator performance by conducting tests, adjusting controls & systems as needed.

What we need from you:
Basic knowledge of AC 110-690 VAC system fundamentals and work practices.
Basic knowledge of DC systems fundamentals and work practices.
Knowledge of generators, diesel and gaseous engines, controls, and systems.
Understand basic operation of transfer switches and switch gear.
Knowledge of mechanical & electronic governors.
Ability to understand wiring diagrams, motors, transformers.
Ability to use vendor diagnostic software to identify and repair deficiencies.
Ability to work safely around electrical components.
Ability to qualify new and used parts for the job being performed.
Ability to complete jobs assigned with little to no supervision.
Excellent customer service skills which includes both verbal and written communications.
Must work /communicate well with electricians, contractors, site managers.

Associates Degree (AA) from a college or technical school (not a requirement but preferred).
5+ years’ experience and/or training in power generation field.

Own and maintain a tool inventory commensurate with position.

Ability to travel by car, and air more than 75% of the time with occasional overnight travel.
Washington State 07 electrical license or ability to work towards one for Washington technicians.

The MTE group is responsible for equipment reliability improvement, process improvement, equipment troubleshooting and upgrade support, automation and smart manufacturing, standard practice implementation, and major capital projects. This is a key role in the global Manufacturing, Technology, and Engineering organization within the Rolled Products business group of Client. This business group has several domestic and international locations, with various manufacturing facilities the Electrical Engineer will support. The incumbent will be required to act with a high degree of autonomy in the performance of assignments. While this role will have global responsibility, the home location will be at our location in Davenport, IA, Alcoa, TN, or Lancaster, PA, with the preferred location being Davenport, IA. The position requires travel, 25-50% of the time. Some of the travel may be international with the majority being in North America.

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
5 years of electrical engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
Electrical engineering experience with large AC/DC motors, industrial high voltage and 480VAC power distribution, transformers, automation, process control systems, drives, and PLC's.
Experience leading, managing and implementing electrical projects including design, installation, and commissioning.
Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
10 years of experience and working knowledge of electrical systems and manufacturing processes and principles
5 years of experience in high voltage electrical equipment and component engineering, design and application specification, maintenance and failure analysis
Experience overseeing the activities of craft persons involved in the implementation of engineered solutions and maintenance activities. In this role, be able to initiate and maintain an ongoing dialogue with personnel to identify issues, clarify requirements, and facilitate use of safe work practices, personal protective equipment, clearance / lock-tag-verify procedures.
Working knowledge and experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software
Experience in estimating, justifying, managing and installing capital projects
Experience designing, installing, troubleshooting and maintaining industrial electrical power and control systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, transmission lines, sub-stations, breakers and relays
Working knowledge of electrical engineering, industry safety standards and related codes and specifications
Strong electrical engineering, maintenance and reliability background
Strong written and oral communications skills
Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
Manage external vendors who provide electrical design and support functions
Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and with cross functional teams.
