The Opportunity

A well-established building services contractor is looking to appoint an experienced **Senior Mechanical Estimator** to join their team based in Dartford.

The business delivers a diverse range of mechanical and electrical building services projects across the **education, healthcare, commercial, living and leisure sectors**.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator to join a growing business, working on a varied portfolio of projects and playing a key role within the pre-construction and estimating function.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and commercially competitive estimates and tenders for a range of mechanical building services projects.

You will work closely with the pre-construction, commercial, design and project teams to ensure tenders are thoroughly reviewed, accurately priced and submitted within required deadlines.

### Key Responsibilities

-   Prepare detailed mechanical estimates and tenders from initial enquiry through to submission.
-   Review drawings, specifications, schedules and tender documentation.
-   Produce accurate material, labour, plant and subcontractor costs.
-   Obtain and assess quotations from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.
-   Identify risks, exclusions, qualifications and commercial opportunities.
-   Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and consultants throughout the tender process.
-   Work closely with design and pre-construction teams to develop cost-effective solutions.
-   Attend tender meetings and site visits where required.
-   Ensure tenders are completed accurately and submitted within agreed deadlines.
-   Identify opportunities for value engineering and cost savings.
-   Maintain accurate estimating records.
-   Assist with the successful handover of projects to the commercial and project teams.
-   Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

## Requirements

About You

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical building services estimating and be confident managing tenders from initial review through to submission.

You will ideally have:

-   Proven experience as a **Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator**.
-   Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services.
-   Experience estimating commercial building services projects.
-   The ability to interpret mechanical drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
-   Strong understanding of labour, material, plant and subcontractor costs.
-   Experience producing detailed and competitive tenders.
-   Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
-   Strong communication and negotiation skills.
-   The ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines effectively.
-   Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and relevant estimating software.
-   A professional, proactive and organised approach.
