## Description

**About AmpThink**

AmpThink is a Master Technology Integrator — we design and deploy the technology behind many of North America’s premier sports and entertainment venues, spanning wired and wireless networking, LED and large-format displays, IPTV, and audio/visual systems. Our customers include major sports organizations such as Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, the Calgary Flames, and the Buffalo Bills. Our Canadian operations run from our office in Fort Erie, Ontario, working hand-in-hand with our head office in Garland, Texas.

**The Role**

We are hiring a Full-Charge Bookkeeper to serve as the lead of our Canadian office in Fort Erie, reporting directly to AmpThink’s CFO in Garland, Texas. You will own the complete set of Canadian books, run the day-to-day of the office, and be our on-the-ground financial contact for “all things Canada.” It is an accounting-led role with a light set of office-management duties on top — and it comes with real ownership: you lead the Canadian office. Because AmpThink builds the technology inside major sports and entertainment venues, the books you keep sit behind real projects at real venues.

This is a genuinely cross-border opportunity. You will maintain a Canadian set of books that reports up to a U.S. parent — reconciling intercompany activity, working in both CAD and USD, and bridging Canadian requirements (GST/HST and CRA payroll remittances) with U.S. head-office processes. If you enjoy operating at the intersection of two countries’ accounting and tax systems, this role offers that variety every day.

AmpThink’s Canadian Practice lead is based here in Fort Erie but travels frequently, so day to day you will often be the on-site presence keeping the office and the books running — with the Practice lead and our U.S. finance team a call away. This is an on-site role well suited to someone in the Niagara region who wants a stable seat close to home, without the daily commute to Toronto — and, for a sports fan, the Buffalo Bills are right across the border.

The ideal candidate is an experienced full-charge bookkeeper — ideally with construction or project-based experience (job costing, work-in-progress, progress billing) — who wants the autonomy of leading a small office close to home. A CPA is welcome but not required; strong, hands-on bookkeeping is what matters.

**This is a newly created position.**

**What You Will Do**

- Own the full cycle of accounting for the Canadian entity — accounts payable and receivable, bank and general-ledger reconciliations, and journal entries — and support month-end and year-end close with clean, organized records
- Prepare and remit Canadian GST/HST and payroll source deductions to the CRA, or coordinate them with head office and external advisors
- Work across the border with head office in Garland, Texas — reconcile intercompany activity, handle CAD/USD transactions, and keep U.S. leadership current on Canadian financial matters
- Assist with US bookkeeping and accounting in partnership with the CFO as time allows
- Track recurring charges, review and code incoming bills, and route them to the right approvers
- Help schedule field resources and track their time, attendance, and expenses in AmpThink’s Zoho tools
- Keep the small Fort Erie office running — mail, supplies, vendors, filing, and records
- Occasionally receive materials at the loading dock — sign for deliveries, move items with a manual pallet jack, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg)

**How We Use AI in This Process**

AmpThink uses artificial intelligence to help screen and assess applications against the criteria for this role. AI does not make the final decision: our CFO reviews every application, with the benefit of that AI analysis, before any candidate is ruled out.

## Requirements

**What You Bring**

- Strong, hands-on full-charge bookkeeping experience — a complete set of books: AP/AR, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close
- Construction or project-based accounting experience — job costing, work-in-progress (WIP), progress billing, and holdback/retainage (strongly preferred)
- Working knowledge of Canadian GST/HST and payroll source-deduction / CRA remittances
- Proficiency with a cloud accounting/ERP system and strong Excel skills — we run on Zoho (Books, People, Projects, Expense); QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero experience transfers well
- Comfort working across CAD and USD and coordinating with a U.S. head office
- Genuine comfort leading a small office on your own — self-directed, organized, and reliable, since the Canadian Practice lead travels frequently
- A willingness to carry light office-management duties — mail, receiving, and coordination — alongside the books
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and operate a manual pallet jack for occasional receiving
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Legally entitled to work in Canada; able to pass a background and reference check

**Nice to Have**

- CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation, or active progress toward one — welcome, not required
- Experience in a sports, venue, or large-project environment
- Cross-border or intercompany experience, or exposure to both Canadian and U.S. tax and reporting
- Experience with multi-currency (CAD/USD) transactions and reconciliations
- Experience running the books for a small entity, branch, or solo office
- Familiarity with the Zoho suite
