## Description

**Commissioning Manager**

**Build Your Legacy:**

At Legacy Professional Services, we believe successful projects start with exceptional people.

Across the country, owners, contractors, utilities, and public agencies trust us to deliver complex infrastructure, construction, energy, and mission-critical projects. Whether supporting a major capital improvement program, a hyperscale data center, an energy initiative, or critical community infrastructure, our work helps create the systems and facilities people rely on every day. We are an integral part of the teams that deliver projects.

Our professionals bring expertise in construction management, program management, project controls, quality assurance and quality control, commissioning support, asset management, workforce solutions, and energy programs. Together, we help clients solve challenges, improve performance, and achieve successful outcomes.

As our company continues to grow, we're looking for talented professionals who are ready to make an impact, build meaningful careers, and help shape the future of Legacy.

**The Opportunity:**

Legacy Professional Services is seeking a **Commissioning Manager** to lead and coordinate commissioning activities for hyperscale data center construction projects from construction through testing, integrated systems validation, and final turnover.

In this role, you'll work closely with project leadership, Construction Managers, Superintendents, QA/QC teams, MEP contractors, vendors, commissioning agents, and client representatives to ensure critical building systems are installed, tested, documented, and ready for reliable operation.

You'll provide leadership throughout the commissioning process, coordinating system readiness, functional testing, issue resolution, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and turnover activities. Your ability to connect construction, quality, commissioning, and operations will be critical to achieving project milestones and delivering reliable mission-critical facilities.

This position is ideal for an experienced commissioning professional who understands complex MEP systems, thrives in fast-paced construction environments, and can lead multidisciplinary teams through the final stages of project delivery.

**What You'll Do:**

- Lead and coordinate commissioning activities for hyperscale data center projects from construction completion through final system acceptance and turnover.
- Develop, implement, and maintain commissioning plans, schedules, procedures, checklists, and documentation in alignment with project and client requirements.
- Coordinate commissioning activities across mechanical, electrical, controls, life safety, and other critical building systems.
- Work with construction, QA/QC, subcontractors, vendors, and commissioning teams to verify systems are complete and ready to progress through each stage of commissioning.
- Manage system and equipment readiness, including pre-functional inspections, startup activities, functional performance testing, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Coordinate commissioning schedules and activities with the overall project schedule, construction sequencing, energization plans, and phased turnover milestones.
- Lead commissioning readiness meetings and communicate system status, constraints, priorities, and upcoming testing activities to project stakeholders.
- Review drawings, specifications, submittals, sequences of operation, control narratives, test procedures, and other technical documentation to support commissioning activities.
- Coordinate equipment startup and testing activities with manufacturers, vendors, trade contractors, controls teams, and client representatives.
- Identify, document, track, and drive resolution of commissioning deficiencies, open items, and system performance issues.
- Verify commissioning documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with project and owner requirements.
- Coordinate closely with QA/QC teams to ensure installation quality and construction completion requirements are satisfied before systems enter commissioning.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of equipment, controls, and system performance issues.
- Manage commissioning interfaces between mechanical, electrical, controls, fire/life safety, and other interconnected systems.
- Lead or support Integrated Systems Testing to verify systems operate together as designed under normal, emergency, and failure conditions.
- Track commissioning progress, system completion, testing status, deficiencies, and turnover milestones and provide regular reporting to project leadership.
- Support final documentation, training, closeout, and handover to the owner and operations teams.

## Requirements

**What We're Looking For:**

**Required Qualifications:**

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Seven or more years of experience in commissioning, MEP construction, engineering, construction management, or mission-critical project delivery, including experience leading commissioning activities.
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls, and critical infrastructure systems.
- Experience coordinating equipment startup, pre-functional inspections, functional performance testing, and system commissioning.
- Experience with commissioning plans, procedures, test scripts, checklists, deficiency tracking, and turnover documentation.
- Understanding of construction sequencing, system completion, energization, commissioning readiness, and phased turnover.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, one-line diagrams, control sequences, submittals, and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating multiple contractors, vendors, technical disciplines, and project stakeholders in a complex construction environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction, commissioning, and project management platforms.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

- Experience commissioning hyperscale data centers, mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing facilities, or other complex infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of critical data center infrastructure, including electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, cooling systems, controls, and building automation systems.
- Experience with Integrated Systems Testing (IST), including testing of system responses under normal, emergency, and simulated failure conditions.
- Experience with Level 1 through Level 5 commissioning processes or similar phased commissioning methodologies.
- Experience coordinating energization, startup, functional testing, and phased turnover on large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), controls integration, and sequence-of-operations testing.
- Experience managing commissioning deficiencies, troubleshooting system performance issues, and coordinating corrective actions.
- Experience working with hyperscale owners, large general contractors, commissioning agents, EPC organizations, or mission-critical project teams.

**Preferred Certifications:**
