## Description

### **About the Role**

We're a venture-backed health-tech business on a mission to help people take control of their health, with strong growth behind us and big plans ahead. As we build out our finance function, we're looking for someone sharp, organised, and brilliant with systems to run the operational engine of our finance team.

Reporting to the Finance Lead, you'll own the day-to-day running of finance and support decision-making across the business. You'll work closely with our B2B team, a fast-growing side of the business with big expectations ahead.

We care far more about how you think than which exams you've passed. If you're a natural problem-solver who spots what isn't working and fixes it, who's ruthless about accuracy, and who loves making a process better, we'll teach you the accounting. This is a role you can grow into and, over time, well beyond.

We're a small team that supports each other, but we also need someone who can work independently and take the initiative. You'll have real ownership of your work, with the freedom to improve how things are done, broad exposure across the business, and room to grow, all while doing genuinely meaningful work.

### **Responsibilities**

- Run the day-to-day finance function, keeping things accurate, timely, and well-controlled.
- Own the month-end close and monthly management accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition.
- Deliver monthly reporting and commercial analysis, including variance analysis and ad hoc deep-dives, to present performance and insight clearly.
- Act as finance business partner to the B2B team and ops leads, supporting their finance needs, ensuring on-time payment and no revenue leakage, with revenue reporting at the contract level.
- Support the budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A cycle, partnering with the Finance Lead on planning and decisions.
- Manage the annual audit, acting as the main point of contact for auditors and ensuring a smooth close.
- Design, build, and improve the processes, systems, and controls the finance function needs as the business scales.
- Work across teams to provide insight, drive efficiency, and support decision-making.

## Requirements

**The right person:**

- Takes ownership, spotting what isn't working and driving it to a better outcome without being asked.
- Is a sharp critical thinker who questions assumptions and digs into the 'why'.
- Works independently and makes the call, while knowing when to pull in support.
- Is commercially-minded, linking the numbers to what's happening in the business.
- Is ruthless about accuracy and attention to detail, and gets things right first time.
- Is adaptable, staying effective as priorities shift.
- Communicates clearly with finance and non-finance people alike.
- Is organised and reliable, juggling priorities and hitting deadlines.

**Skills and experience:**

- Strong numeracy and a genuine aptitude for working with financial data.
- Advanced Excel skills, and a love of using systems and tools to work faster and better.
- Experience with accounting or finance software (Xero preferred), and comfort learning new systems quickly.
- Some experience in a finance, operations, or analytical role, ideally in a fast-paced startup or scale-up.
- A good grasp of how a business makes and spends money, and an interest in the commercial side.

**Nice to have, not required:**

- Studying towards, or an interest in studying towards, an accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA). We'll support you if you want to.
- Prior exposure to month-end, FP&A, or audit processes.
