## Description

**About Ornata**

Ornata is building the remote operations platform for agriculture.

We help farms operate machinery without a human in the cab, using the equipment they already own. Our service combines retrofit autonomy hardware, remote operators, AI, and operational systems to unlock the benefits of autonomy for every farm.

We are working with some of Australia's leading broadacre farming businesses and are now building the operational foundations required to scale safely, reliably, and repeatably.

**About the role**

We are looking for a field-based Service Technician in the Wimmera / Mallee region to keep Ornata-enabled machinery running.

When a machine goes down, your job is to get to site fast — with the right tools and spare parts — and get it running again. You'll be on call to respond to our customers' sites, and we'll set you up with a work ute, tools, and a phone so you're ready to go.

Once on site, you'll run basic diagnostics using our system and tools, replace components, and install sensors. For anything more complex, you're the eyes, ears, and hands on the ground for our engineering team, who can connect into our systems remotely and work the problem with you.

You'll be the local face of Ornata, working on and around large machinery and our retrofit autonomy hardware. It's a high-responsibility, safety-critical role that you'll mostly run on your own, so we need someone reliable who takes safety seriously and works well independently. The role may also include some time at our Richmond head office for training and to support the hardware teams.

**What you'll do**

\- Respond on call and get to customer sites quickly, with the tools and spare parts you need.

\- Run basic diagnostics on Ornata's system using our tools.

\- Replace components and install sensors on customer machinery.

\- Be the eyes, ears, and hands on site for the engineering team when they connect in remotely to work through complex issues.

\- Work safely on and around large agricultural machinery at all times.

\- Spend some time at our Richmond head office for training and to support the hardware teams.

**What success looks like**

Success means Ornata-enabled machines in your region get back up and running fast when issues arise, the work is done safely, customers trust the local support they get, and the engineering team can rely on you as their eyes and hands in the field.

## Requirements

This is a hands-on, safety-critical role for someone who can work independently in the field and stay calm under pressure. We are looking for someone with:

\- Experience working with agricultural machinery.

\- Experience working with farmers and on farms.

\- Hands-on auto-electrical and electrical ability — wiring, fault-finding, and diagnostics. A formal auto-electrical qualification is not required.

\- Basic mechanical skills — installing electrical systems, fabricating and repairing mounting brackets, and similar.

\- The ability to work independently in a high-responsibility, safety-critical role.

\- A willingness to travel and spend time on the road.

\- Availability for on-call work.

\- A current driver's licence.

**Useful experience**

— any of the following would help, but aren't essential:

\- Auto-electrical, electrical, or mechatronics trade qualifications.

\- Precision-ag / GPS-guidance installation or field service.

\- Diesel or dealership service technician experience.

\- Working with sensors, wiring, and diagnostic tools.

\- Familiarity with broadacre farming and its operating windows.

## Benefits

\- A work ute, tools, and phone, set up so you're ready to respond.

\- Be part of a committed team and see the rewards of your work — all early team members, including this role, hold company options, so each of us is rewarded for the company's success.

\- A key field role in an early-stage team building a new category in agriculture.

\- Work close to the machinery and the growers you support, in your own region, without a daily commute to the city.

\- A direct line into the engineering team, where your feedback shapes the product.

\- Be part of a team building technology for one of Australia's most important industries.

Total package of $95,000–$118,000, inclusive of superannuation, plus an on-call allowance. We provide a work ute, tools, and phone.
