## Description

As a Solar Technical Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the design, planning, procurement, construction, and commissioning of large-scale solar PV projects across Ireland. You will work closely with internal engineering teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the technical delivery of projects meets performance, budget, and timeline expectations.

## Requirements

**Key Responsibilities:**

-   Assist in the development of preliminary and detailed engineering designs, layouts, and single-line diagrams for solar PV systems.
-   Review and coordinate technical documents, including specifications, datasheets, method statements, and drawings.
-   Support project managers in managing project schedules, procurement tracking, and subcontractor coordination.
-   Ensure design compliance with relevant Irish and EU standards, planning conditions, grid codes, and health & safety regulations.
-   Liaise with the DNO/ESB Networks regarding grid connection designs, protection settings, and commissioning requirements.
-   Perform on-site inspections and provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases.
-   Assist with energy yield assessments, cable sizing, equipment selection, and system optimisation.
-   Coordinate with QA/QC and EHS teams to ensure technical quality and safety are upheld throughout the project lifecycle.
-   Prepare technical documentation for O&M handover, including as-built drawings and commissioning reports.
-   Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement across projects.

**Requirements:**

-   Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
-   2–5 years of engineering experience in solar PV or renewable energy projects; EPC experience is a strong advantage.
-   Strong understanding of solar PV system components (modules, inverters, transformers, cabling, SCADA).
-   Familiarity with relevant Irish/EU regulations (ET103, IEC standards, ESB Networks connection requirements).
-   Proficiency with AutoCAD, PVsyst, and Microsoft Office Suite.
-   Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
-   Willingness to travel to project sites across Ireland.
-   Full Irish (EU) driving license required.

**Preferred:**

-   Experience with MV/HV grid connections and protection studies.
-   Knowledge of BESS integration and hybrid energy systems.
-   Chartered Engineer status or working toward professional accreditation (Engineers Ireland).
