## Requirements

**CAD/BIM Technician – Building Services MEP (Manchester)**

We are looking for a talented and collaborative CAD/BIM Technician to support our Building Services MEP team.

This role is specifically focused on Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health building services design, so previous experience and a good understanding of MEP services is essential. The successful candidate will be confident working with building services engineers to produce accurate, coordinated and technically robust CAD drawings and BIM models.

Sustainable design is at the heart of our Practice and, collectively, we aim to create inspirational designs that protect our climate and enhance the built environment.

As a CAD/BIM Technician, you will join one of our friendly studios and support projects across a range of sectors, including residential, education, commercial, development, regeneration and public-sector work. You will work closely with MEP engineers, project managers and wider design teams, supporting the delivery of coordinated design information from early-stage concepts through to technical design, tender and construction information.

The role will involve translating MEP design concepts, engineer mark-ups, sketches, schematics and technical information into detailed CAD drawings and BIM models. You will help ensure that building services designs are correctly documented, coordinated and delivered in accordance with project requirements, company standards and relevant industry procedures.

You will play an important role in supporting the design team with clear, accurate and well-presented MEP information, including layouts, schematics, sections, details, builders’ work information and coordinated service zones.

**Key elements of the role include:**

- Producing 2D drawings and 3D models for Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health building services using AutoCAD, Revit and other CAD/BIM software.
- Preparing and updating MEP layouts, schematics, sections, details, builders’ work drawings and coordinated service zone drawings.
- Revising drawings and models in line with design changes, engineer mark-ups and project requirements.
- Supporting the preparation of MEP drawing packages for planning, technical design, tender, construction and client review.
- Coordinating MEP information with architectural, structural and wider design team models and drawings.
- Assisting with clash avoidance and coordination of building services within ceiling voids, risers, plantrooms, distribution routes and service zones.
- Maintaining drawing standards, templates, families, blocks and project libraries.
- Ensuring drawings and models comply with company CAD/BIM standards, project protocols and agreed issue procedures.
- Supporting the team with drawing issue sheets, printing, plotting, document control and archiving of technical documents.
- Providing CAD/BIM support to MEP engineers and project teams as required.

**Essential requirements:**

- Previous CAD/BIM experience within a Building Services MEP environment.
- Good working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health services drawings.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
- Ability to translate engineer mark-ups, sketches, schematics and design information into clear technical drawings and models.
- Good understanding of MEP coordination with architectural and structural information.
- Awareness of MEP spatial coordination, including risers, plantrooms, ceiling voids, containment routes, builders’ work openings and access zones.
- Ability to work to drawing standards, project protocols and agreed issue procedures.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to drawing and model production.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers and wider design teams.

**Advantageous skills and experience:**

- Awareness of BIM standards and processes, including ISO 19650, project information requirements, BIM Execution Plans, naming conventions, model federation and information exchange.
- Experience working in a Common Data Environment such as Viewpoint, Newforma, BIM 360 / Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite or similar.
- Experience with Revit MEP families, shared parameters, schedules, view templates and project setup.
- Experience supporting clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks, Solibri or similar software.
- Experience using schedules, data exports or model information to support quantities, asset information or technical schedules.
- Awareness of digital design workflows, automation and efficiency tools such as Dynamo, Revit macros, scripts or other methods to improve drawing and model production.
- Understanding of MEP design stages, including planning, technical design, tender and construction information.
- Experience across residential, commercial, education, mixed-use, regeneration or public-sector projects.

This is an opportunity to join a growing Building Services MEP team and contribute to the delivery of well-coordinated, sustainable and technically robust projects. We are looking for someone who is proactive, organised and keen to develop their CAD/BIM capability within a collaborative engineering environment.

### Is this you?

You’ll be an experienced CAD/BIM Technician with a good understanding of Building Services MEP and a keen eye for technical detail. Collaborative, proactive and organised, you’ll enjoy working closely with engineers and wider design teams to produce accurate, coordinated and well-presented drawings and models.

You’ll be confident using CAD/BIM software to support the delivery of Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health design information, and you’ll take pride in maintaining high drawing standards, improving workflows and contributing to the successful delivery of projects.

With a helpful and positive approach, you’ll thrive within an innovative practice that is committed to sustainable design and making a positive impact on the built environment.
