### About the Role

We are looking for an Agentic Engineer – Automation Focus to  join Wati’s Automation Squad and help build, scale, and support the backend systems that power automation experiences for businesses worldwide.

In this role, you will develop backend services, APIs, workflow logic, and supporting systems that enable customers to automate messaging journeys, trigger business actions, and orchestrate conversational experiences at scale. You will work in an engineering environment that actively uses AI agents and Cursor in day-to-day development, and you are expected to use these tools effectively to ship faster while maintaining high quality.

This role is a strong fit for an engineer who enjoys backend problem-solving, building reliable distributed systems, and working with agent-assisted development practices. You should be comfortable owning features end to end, contributing to production support when needed, and collaborating closely with product and cross-functional engineering teams.

### What You Will Do

-   Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for Wati’s Automation domain.
-   Implement scalable workflow and automation capabilities, including triggers, actions, execution flows, and supporting orchestration logic.
-   Develop production-ready systems using C#, Go, Node.js, and MongoDB where appropriate across the stack.
-   Work with frontend engineers on workflow and builder experiences involving React Flow integrations and backend coordination.
-   Use Cursor and agent-assisted workflows to accelerate coding, debugging, refactoring, documentation, and delivery.
-   Write maintainable, testable, and observable code with attention to correctness, performance, and reliability.
-   Investigate production issues, participate in incident handling, and contribute to sustainable fixes and operational improvements.
-   Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate requirements into practical technical designs.
-   Contribute to better engineering practices around code quality, release confidence, and service ownership.
-   Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of the infrastructure serving customers across 190+ countries

## Requirements

-   3+ years of software engineering experience, with strong backend development skills (Go or Python preferred)
-   Hands-on experience with one or more backend languages such as C#, GoLang.
-   Experience building APIs, backend services, and data-driven application logic in production environments.
-   Good working knowledge of MongoDB/ NoSQL and service-side data modeling.
-   Understanding of distributed systems fundamentals, including reliability, scalability, failure handling, and observability.
-   Familiarity with modern engineering workflows using AI coding tools such as Cursor and agent-assisted development practices.
