## Description

Empowerment Academy Charter School has an opening for a part-time school year Custodian. Approximate hours: 9:00am-2:00pm on school days in the Jersey City Heights.

**$18.00-$19.00/hr**

**ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**

-   Perform major cleaning tasks such as vacuuming (using a 20 lb. vacuum daily for 3-4 hours), wet-mopping, sweeping, dusting, emptying the trash (lifting waste paper and debris - minimum of 55 lbs.) and pencil sharpeners, cleaning whiteboards, and disinfecting drinking fountains.
-   Clean restrooms, including floors and all fixtures (i.e.: urinals, toilets, sinks, mirrors, partitions, and counters). Ensure restrooms are clean and disinfected.
-   Ensure that all doors and windows are appropriately locked.

-   Must be able to go up and downstairs and undertake bending and standing as needed in a daily shift.

-   Promptly report major repairs as needed to the Head Custodian.

-   Maintain the appearance of hallways throughout the building by washing and buffing floors. This work cannot be done when students are in class.

  
**ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS:**

-   Relate in a professional manner with students, faculty, administration and community patrons.

-   Carry and answer radio at all times on school grounds.

-   Submit information and data as requested.

-   Regularly monitor school email for pertinent communication.

-   Complete paperwork as requested.

-   Complete training courses as assigned.

INDOPERATIONS

## Requirements

**Qualifications:**

-   High School diploma or G.E.D.
-   Able to pass DOE criminal background check
-   Low Pressure Boilers License / Black Seal is a plus
-   Experience working in a school setting a plus
-   Effective interpersonal skills

-   Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally'
