## Description

CLMI Group is seeking a Project Engineer III – Sustainability to support the Los Angeles Community College District’s (LACCD) BuildLACCD capital improvement program.  

The Project Engineer III – Sustainability is responsible for providing technical and engineering support to the BuildLACCD Program Management Office, with a specialized focus on sustainability, energy, and decarbonization capital projects. This role is bond-eligible and strictly limited to work associated with capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects as defined under the BuildLACCD Bond Program.

Technical Engineering & Field Support

-   Provide technical and engineering support to the BuildLACCD PMO, including Project Managers and Construction Managers, with a focus on sustainability and energy capital projects.
-   Make field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration, addition, or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements.
-   Read and interpret construction plans, shop drawings, and technical specifications related to sustainability systems including EIS platforms, LED lighting, BMS, central plant decarbonization, renewable energy, micro-grid, and EVCS.
-   Coordinate with PMO staff, College Project Teams (CPTs), contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and College staff across all active sustainability project scopes.

Project Administration & Contract Management

-   Review, estimate, negotiate, and process construction change orders and construction field orders on sustainability-related capital projects.
-   Review and enforce construction and professional services contracts; manage and direct contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approving invoices.
-   Coordinate with Architects for timely and accurate responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, and Construction Change Documents; review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications.
-   Assess project risks and develop risk registers including mitigation strategies; facilitate resolution of construction and design issues.
-   Generate and distribute meeting minutes for construction and design meetings; participate in and occasionally lead design or construction meetings.

Reporting, Documentation & Compliance

-   Support development of weekly and monthly project status reports and photo documentation for the project team.
-   Prepare Scope of Work documents, project status reports, and draft Proposed Board Actions (PBAs) for solicitation of consultant and contractor services.
-   Confirm contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments; maintain project files in both electronic and paper format.
-   Assist in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines in support of sustainability program delivery.

Sustainability Project Scope Areas

-   Energy Information System (EIS) Platform implementation and integration.
-   Energy Efficiency LED Lighting retrofit and upgrade projects.
-   Building Management System (BMS) upgrades and controls integration.
-   Central Plant Decarbonization including local building systems and Central Plant/Chiller replacement or optimization.
-   Renewable Energy and Micro-grid projects including Photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
-   Electrical Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS) installation and infrastructure projects.

## Requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications

-   Minimum seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction.
-   BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or related degree. Four additional years of qualifying experience in excess of the minimum may be substituted for the required education.
-   Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative; effectively manage daily work effort in a fast-paced environment.
-   Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear technical reports, correspondence, and presentations.

Preferred Qualifications

-   Experience on educational programs/projects and Division of State Architect (DSA) projects.
-   Experience across all phases of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
-   Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), LEED AP, or similar credentials.
-   Hands-on experience delivering sustainability capital projects in one or more of the following areas: Energy Information System (EIS) platforms, Energy Efficiency LED Lighting, Building Management Systems (BMS), Central Plant Decarbonization, Renewable Energy/Micro-grid (PV, BESS), or Electrical Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS).
-   Experience supporting public agencies, community college districts, K–12 school districts, or large institutional capital programs.

## Benefits

Offered rate of compensation will be based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including education, qualifications, experience, and geographic location. The salary range for this position is $125,000 - $130,000
