## Description

FLiiP is a fast-growing fitness technology company building a SaaS platform that helps gyms and fitness businesses run and grow their operations. Working at the intersection of software and the fitness industry, the team is focused on delivering technology that supports day-to-day business management while creating a strong experience for customers and end users.

As Director of Engineering, you will shape how engineering operates and scales as the company grows. This is a high-impact leadership role with broad reach across our web, mobile, and data engineering teams. You will be a key driver of technical excellence, team performance, and the integration of AI into our engineering DNA.

You'll report directly to the COO/CTO and work closely with Product, Design, and Customer-facing teams to ensure we ship fast, ship right, and continuously raise the bar.

### Responsibilities

-   Team Leadership & Development

-   Lead, coach, and grow a team of engineers and data scientists across web, mobile, and data disciplines
-   Support individual growth through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans
-   Drive a culture of ownership, accountability, performance and continuous improvement
-   Manage hiring to scale the team as FLiiP grows

-   Engineering Excellence

-   Define and enforce engineering best practices, quality standards, and deployment processes
-   Manage on-call rotations and ensure system reliability
-   Own our SOC 2 and GDPR compliance posture from an engineering security perspective
-   Champion technical debt reduction and proactive platform reliability
-   Support your team during incident or when it is required

-   AI & Innovation

-   Lead the design and continuous improvement of our AI-driven Software Development Lifecycle (AI SDLC)
-   Embed AI tooling and practices across the engineering team to increase velocity and quality
-   Collaborate with the data science team on AI/ML product initiatives to drive innovation with product

-   Cross-functional Collaboration

-   Work closely with Product and Design peers to align engineering execution with product strategy
-   Partner with Customer Success and Support to resolve escalations requiring technical depth
-   Report on engineering performance with clear, data-driven metrics

## Requirements

-   Required

-   2+ years of engineering leadership experience, with a track record of scaling engineering in startup SaaS environments
-   Experience leading web, mobile, and data engineering teams
-   Experience with AI processes and building or improving AI SDLC practices
-   Knowledge of SOC 2 and GDPR compliance requirements, along with strong engineering security practices
-   Strong cross-functional collaboration skills (Product, Design, CS, Support)

-   Eligibility to work in Canada

-   Nice to Have
-   Experience with AWS infrastructure
-   Professional proficiency in French
-   Background in or passion for fitness / health industry
-   Experience managing both ICs and engineering managers (IC/Manager balance)
