## Description

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced **Senior Specialist – Cardiac Surgery** to join our Government Healthcare Facility in the UAE.

The successful candidate will provide specialized surgical care to patients with cardiovascular and cardiothoracic conditions. The role involves preoperative assessment, surgical planning, operative management, postoperative care, and follow-up of patients requiring cardiac surgical intervention.

The Senior Specialist will work closely with cardiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, perfusionists, nurses, and other multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care.

### Key Responsibilities

-   Assess and manage patients referred for cardiac surgical evaluation.
-   Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments and determine appropriate surgical treatment plans.
-   Evaluate patients with coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, aortic disease, congenital cardiac conditions, and other conditions requiring cardiac surgery.
-   Review and interpret relevant diagnostic investigations, including echocardiography, cardiac catheterization, CT, MRI, ECG, and other imaging studies.
-   Perform cardiac surgical procedures within the scope of training, privileges, and professional competence.
-   Participate in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), valve surgery, aortic procedures, and other appropriate cardiac surgical interventions.
-   Provide perioperative and postoperative management of cardiac surgery patients.
-   Monitor patients for postoperative complications and initiate appropriate management.
-   Collaborate with cardiac intensive care and anesthesia teams in the management of critically ill postoperative patients.
-   Participate in multidisciplinary heart-team meetings and case conferences.
-   Provide appropriate counseling to patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, surgical risks, benefits, and expected outcomes.
-   Ensure accurate and timely documentation of clinical assessments, operative procedures, postoperative care, and follow-up.
-   Maintain high standards of infection prevention, patient safety, and surgical quality.
-   Participate in clinical audits, morbidity and mortality meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and service development.
-   Support and mentor junior surgeons and other clinical staff.
-   Participate in teaching, training, case presentations, and continuing professional development.
-   Contribute to clinical research and evidence-based practice where applicable.
-   Participate in on-call, emergency, weekend, and public holiday coverage as required.

## Requirements

-   Medical degree (**MBBS, MBChB, or equivalent**) from a recognized medical institution.
-   Recognized postgraduate qualification in **Cardiothoracic Surgery / Cardiovascular Surgery / Cardiac Surgery** or an equivalent specialty qualification recognized by the relevant UAE health authority.
-   Relevant post-specialization clinical experience appropriate for a **Senior Specialist** position.
-   Demonstrated experience in cardiac surgical procedures and perioperative patient management.
-   Strong knowledge of contemporary cardiac surgical techniques and evidence-based practice.
-   Excellent clinical decision-making and surgical skills.
-   UK CCT qualified candidate preferred .
-   Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork abilities.
-   Commitment to patient safety, clinical governance, and high-quality surgical care.
-   Proficiency in English; Arabic is an advantage.
