## Description

The Mechanical Design SME is responsible for overseeing and providing technical direction for mechanical design graphics work associated with BPSI projects, including CAD development, general arrangements, layouts, details, fabrication support drawings, design standards, drawing quality, and coordination with engineering and project teams.

**Essential Responsibilities**

-   Provide technical direction and oversight for CAD layouts, arrangement drawings, details, assemblies, and other mechanical design graphics deliverables, including:

-   Piping & Pipe Supports (ASME B31.1)
-   Pressure parts (ASME Section I)
-   Structural Steel
-   Ductwork
-   Burners & Fuel Systems
-   SCRs & WFGDs

-   Support proposal efforts by reviewing and coordinating preliminary layouts.
-   Develop, maintain, and enforce Mechanical Design Graphics standards, CAD practices, drawing procedures, and applicable ISO work instructions.
-   Mentor designers and CAD personnel by providing technical guidance, design direction, and feedback on drawing quality and design practices.
-   Participate in project, engineering, and design coordination meetings as required.
-   Review mechanical design graphics deliverables for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, constructability, and compliance with project requirements and company standards.

## Requirements

**Qualifications**

 The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical design graphics experience and the ability to provide technical leadership across CAD layouts, details, assemblies, and project drawing deliverables. The individual should be a self-motivated leader who can coordinate priorities, mentor designers, promote drawing quality, and work effectively with engineering, project management, fabrication, and field teams.

 **Mandatory Qualifications**

-   Bachelor's degree in engineering; Mechanical Engineering preferred.
-   Fifteen (15) or more years of experience in mechanical design, mechanical design graphics, CAD, layout development, detailing, or a related industrial design environment.
-   Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
-   Excellent analytical and computer skills, including proficiency with CAD tools, Word, and Excel.
-   Organized and able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and respond quickly to requests.

**Preferred Qualifications**

-   Experience in utility power generation a plus including both greenfield and brownfield (retrofit) work.
-   Experience with mechanical equipment layouts, arrangement drawings, fabrication details, assemblies, piping or ductwork layouts, and field-installation support drawings.
-   Field, fabrication, construction, or installation support experience.
-   Knowledge of applicable industry codes, drafting standards, drawing checking practices, and mechanical design documentation requirements.

Experience with laser scanning and interference checking
