Your responsibilities will include:

As an **Underwriter**, you’ll play a critical role in loan closings by ensuring timely and accurate loan reviews and approvals. You’ll become an expert in evaluating credit risk and determining property valuations. We’re looking for detail-oriented, proactive professionals who excel in fast-paced environments while managing risk effectively.

**What You’ll Do:**

-   **Pipeline Management**: Support the efficient management of both the underwriting and closing pipelines, ensuring timely desk underwrites and successful loan closings, measured by the number and dollar value of completed loans.
-   **Property Valuation**: Utilize various resources, including public records, Zillow, Redfin, Realtor, and Trulia, to analyze comparable sales data and determine accurate property values (as-is and after-repair value).
-   **Risk Mitigation**: Follow standard procedures to mitigate risks and improve the likelihood of principal recovery by:

-   Developing a comprehensive analysis of project risks for each new loan.
-   Reviewing borrower-related documentation (e.g., credit reports, liquidity statements) to ensure alignment with established criteria.
-   Judging borrowers' creditworthiness based on thorough analysis of associated risks.
-   Collaborating with the production team to develop terms and pricing for pre-qualified loans.
-   Clearly presenting feedback and recommendations on funding decisions, supported by data.
-   Reviewing loan structure to define conditions that align with valuation and established criteria.

-   **Documentation and Compliance**: Assist the loan production team by ensuring all necessary documents are collected for properties associated with loans.

-   **Third-Party Coordination**: Work with third-party appraisal firms when discrepancies in valuation methods arise.
-   **Policy Exceptions**: Identify, review, and approve or reject policy exceptions and material issues, escalating to management when required.
-   **Due Diligence**: Complete property-related research in unique situations and document clear notes on findings during the due diligence process.
-   **Delegated Work**: Take on larger portions of delegated work assignments, including more complex loan scenarios.
-   **Team Support**: Assist team leads and managers in hiring, training, and onboarding new Real Estate Analysts.
-   **Process Improvement**: Serve as a curator for ideas to enhance operational efficiency, delivery, and employee experiences.

The total compensation for this role ranges from $65,000 - $75,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
