## Description

**QQR LABS**

**Principal Engineer, Computer Vision & Edge AI**

**Fort Worth, TX / Cincinnati, OH / Austin, TX (full relocation covered) or Remote, US  |  Full-time**

**$220,000 to $280,000 base + 20 to 25% milestone bonus**

Freight fraud and cargo theft drain tens of billions of dollars a year from the US supply chain, and the industry still verifies trucks with paperwork. QQR Labs is building its first product where machine vision meets physical freight. The full scope and excitement of what we are building will be shared during the interview process.

QQR Labs is the technology arm of QQR Freight, a platform whose sister companies include an asset-based motor carrier and a nationwide 3PL brokerage. We are not a pitch deck. There are trucks, lanes, revenue, and customers behind this, which means a real-world proving ground and a built-in first customer from day one.

We are hiring the first engineer on the product, and you will own it end to end: the hardware in the field, the models on the edge, and the platform customers log into.

**What you will build**

- Ruggedized capture hardware: industrial cameras, IR illumination, Jetson-class GPU compute, cellular backhaul, weatherproof enclosures built for unattended outdoor duty
- On-device ML: detection, classification, and OCR on vehicles at highway speed, day and night
- The data platform: high-volume ingestion, entity resolution, search, alerting, APIs
- The data engine: auto-labeling pipelines, continuous retraining, and evaluation loops fed by real-world captures
- Fleet tooling: provisioning, over-the-air updates, and health monitoring for hardware deployed far from a desk

## Requirements

**Who we want**

- You have shipped computer vision on real hardware in the real world, not just in a notebook. Detection, tracking, OCR, deployed where weather, vibration, and glare live.
- A camera-first mindset: multi-camera perception, vision-only stacks, and models that hold up in rain, glare, and darkness
- Edge and embedded fluency: Linux on ARM, camera pipelines (GStreamer or similar), model optimization (TensorRT, ONNX, quantization)
- Cloud and data competence: Python, AWS or GCP, streaming ingestion, practical MLOps
- You make hardware decisions, work without a playbook, and own outcomes
- If you have built vision systems that live outdoors or on vehicles at scale, you already know this class of problem. Come build one where you hold real skin in the game.

## Benefits

**The package**

- $220,000 to $280,000 base, plus a 20 to 25% annual bonus tied to build milestones (first unit live in the field, accuracy targets, deployment count)
- Long-term upside beyond salary, covered in the interview process. We want an owner, not an employee.
- Full relocation to Fort Worth, Cincinnati, or Austin, or remote (US) with regular time at HQ and in the field
- Visa sponsorship available, including H-1B transfers
- A funded hardware lab and field deployment budget from day one
- You interview with, and report to, the CEO
