## Description

The Smart Nation group, part of the Prime Minister’s Office and administered by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), plays a multifaceted role in guiding Singapore's digital transformation and leading the development of Smart Nation strategies. In addition to driving the digitalisation of government services, the group oversees the development and application of digital technologies and capabilities across Singapore. It also promotes digital inclusivity, while regulating data and online activities and strengthening digital security. Through its comprehensive approach, the group strives to create a digitally empowered and inclusive society, positioning Singapore as a global leader in the digital era.

The National AI Group (NAIG) within the Smart Nation group is responsible for driving the implementation of our refreshed National AI Strategy (NAIS 2.0), in partnership with government, industry, and research stakeholders. You will also work with the National AI Council to support the National AI Missions, transform sectors with AI and build an AI hub in Singapore.  

You will be part of the Policy and Strategy team within NAIG: 

KEY RESULT AREAS: 

-   Experiment and incubate approaches to tackling emerging, cross-cutting issues and opportunities in AI. 

-   Assess the implications of geostrategic, economic, technological, and industry developments in AI and shape Singapore’s possible responses to these developments. 

-   Track the progress and evaluate effectiveness of existing strategies and programmes in achieving strategic outcomes for AI 

-   Ensure alignment and coherence of various AI initiatives across the Singapore government to Singapore’s desired outcomes in driving AI use. 

-   Work across government agencies and other entities to acquire and allocate necessary resources (e.g. finance, manpower, collaborations) to support the National AI Strategy. 

-   Contribute to overall strategy formulation and policymaking at MDDI, given the cross-cutting nature of AI. 

-   As Deputy Director/ Senior Assistant Director,  your role will include to build up an effective team to deliver these outcomes and be a strong advocate for the team’s contributions at the local, national and international levels.

## Requirements

-   Background in public policy, law, computer science, engineering, humanities, mathematics, or a related field. 

-   Strong understanding of AI technologies, their economic impact, societal implications, and interest in the global regulatory landscape. 

-   Analytical mindset and attention to detail for policy research and development. 

-   Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills. 

-   Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams and external stakeholders. 

-   Relevant experience in industry development and engagement
