### **Urgent Care Physician (MD/DO)**

### **Position Summary**

The Urgent Care Physician provides timely, high-quality medical care for patients presenting with acute illnesses and minor injuries in an urgent care setting. This role focuses on rapid evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of non-life-threatening conditions, emphasizing patient-centered care, efficiency, and appropriate care coordination.

### **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

-   Evaluate and treat patients with acute medical conditions and minor injuries
-   Manage common urgent care presentations such as respiratory infections, gastrointestinal illnesses, musculoskeletal injuries, lacerations, burns, and minor trauma
-   Perform procedures consistent with training and privileges, including suturing, splinting, incision and drainage, and wound care
-   Order and interpret diagnostic tests including laboratory studies, X-rays, and point-of-care testing
-   Prescribe medications and provide treatment plans appropriate to urgent care settings
-   Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and follow-up care
-   Identify patients requiring higher levels of care and coordinate transfers to emergency departments or specialty services
-   Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner
-   Collaborate with nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and support staff
-   Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives
-   Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

### **Qualifications**

-   Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
-   Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
-   Board-eligible or board-certified in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine
-   Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
-   DEA registration or eligibility
