## Description

Euronet Worldwide is a global financial technology company that enables the movement of money through payment processing, prepaid products, money transfer and digital payment solutions. epay, a Euronet business segment, provides payment, prepaid and branded-payment solutions across an extensive international network of retailers, brands and financial-services partners.

As epay’s portfolio and global reach continue to expand, the organization is building a unified global fraud function to protect a diverse set of businesses. These include gift card issuing and distribution; open-loop prepaid card programs such as Giftzy and Prezzy across Australia, New Zealand and India; and payment-acquiring operations throughout Europe. epay is also pursuing significant strategic initiatives that will materially increase both its fraud exposure and the sophistication required to manage it.

We are seeking a Director, Global Fraud Strategy to help build this capability from the ground up. This is a senior individual-contributor position offering significant global visibility and influence. It is a hands-on, technically credible role—not a governance-only or executive-sponsorship position.

The Director will shape epay’s fraud-detection capabilities, policies and operating model across every business line. This person will also lead the strategic evaluation of epay’s core fraud technology stack, including determining whether the organization should continue investing in its internal fraud tools or move to an alternative vendor, platform or architecture.

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced payments-fraud leader to establish a global strategy, influence major technology decisions and build a scalable fraud capability across a complex and growing international payments business.

The preferred locations are Kansas City, Munich, or Australia. However, because this is a specialized global search, qualified candidates located near other Euronet or epay offices may also be considered.

- Define and lead epay's global fraud strategy, systems roadmap and policy framework across all business lines, adapting controls to each line's distinct fraud vectors and risk profile.

- Gift card fraud: design and continuously improve detection and prevention controls targeting elder/ “granny” scams, retailer-rack manipulation, and the use of gift cards as a money-laundering and cash-out vector.

- Prepaid issuing fraud: own the fraud risk framework for epay's open-loop prepaid card programs (including Giftzy and Prezzy in Australia, New Zealand and India), covering card-not-present fraud, account takeover, first-party/friendly fraud and load/redemption abuse.

- Acquiring fraud: partner with epay's European payment acquiring business to manage merchant and transaction-level fraud risk, chargeback exposure and scheme compliance (Visa/Mastercard fraud and risk rules).

- Own the build-vs-buy decision for epay's core fraud technology: evaluate Skylight/Fraud.net against alternative fraud detection and case management platforms and set the go-forward technology strategy based on coverage, cost, scalability and fit against epay's fraud vectors.

- Serve as the fraud risk lead for proposed strategic initiatives related to card issuing and agentic payments.

- Develop and maintain global fraud policies, typology libraries, detection rules and risk appetite thresholds; ensure they stay current against emerging fraud trends and are consistently applied across regions and product lines.

- Manage the relationship with Fraud.net and any other third-party fraud vendors, holding them accountable to performance, detection efficacy and service-level commitments.

- Build and report a consolidated set of fraud KPIs and metrics (loss rates, detection/false-positive rates, case aging, etc.) for Executive Management and escalate material fraud risks or significant incidents as needed.

- Partner with Compliance/AML, Product, Engineering and regional business leaders to embed fraud controls into new products and markets from design through launch.
- Build, mentor and lead a global fraud team (analysts, investigators and/or fraud engineers) as the function scales.

## Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science or a related field; advanced degree a plus.

- 8+ years of payment fraud experience, with direct, hands-on exposure to card issuing (prepaid and/or open-loop), payment acquiring, or gift card/stored-value fraud — not solely AML or general compliance.

- Demonstrated experience selecting, implementing or managing fraud detection platforms and making build-vs-buy technology decisions.

- Working knowledge of card scheme fraud rules and liability frameworks (Visa, Mastercard), open-loop prepaid issuing risk, elder/scam fraud typologies, and money-laundering typologies specific to gift cards and stored value.

- Experience supporting large-scale issuing or platform partnerships with major technology companies (e.g., Apple, Google) is strongly preferred.

- Professional certification in fraud, payments or financial crime (CFE, CFCS, CAMS or similar) is preferred.

- Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills; comfort working directly with fraud rules, detection logic and case data, not only policy documents.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including reporting to executive management.

- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage vendor relationships and budgets.

- High level of integrity, sound judgement and attention to detail.
