## Description

Board Intelligence is Europe’s largest end-to-end board technology and advisory firm, trusted by more than 75,000 leaders across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. Through a suite of AI-powered software tools and advisory services, we help boards and executives work more effectively — improving the efficiency of governance processes and the quality of decision-making at the very top of organisations.

Our work is grounded in twenty years of boardroom experience. We apply the science of board effectiveness to the tools we build and the advice we give, helping governance teams, company secretaries, and directors across financial services, large enterprise, and the public sector to spend less time on process and more time on what matters.

Our platform covers the full governance workflow — from agenda planning and board pack creation to secure collaboration, AI-assisted reporting, minute writing, and board performance analytics. We are the trusted partner for boards that want to raise their game.

The Opportunity

We have launched IQ — Board Intelligence’s latest AI capability built into our platform and designed to help directors and governance teams work at their best. IQ is grounded in our proprietary governance expertise and can be configured and customised to each client’s specific context. This is what sets it apart from generic AI tools.

The customisation of IQ for enterprise clients is where significant value lives. It is also where this role sits.

This is a Consulting Manager role at the intersection of technology, governance, and client delivery. You will work alongside our Sales team to identify clients who need a bespoke implementation, help make the case for it, design the project, and lead the delivery. You will be the expert who bridges what clients need, what our product can do, and what our internal teams are able to build.

## Requirements

Client Engagement & Sales Support

- Join discovery and scoping calls with prospects and existing clients, alongside our Sales team, to understand governance contexts and identify where IQ customisation can add the most value.

- Articulate the case for a custom implementation compellingly: helping clients understand what is possible, what it takes to get there, and why it matters for their board.

- Navigate multi-stakeholder client environments where the board sponsor, the Company Secretary, the IT team, and individual directors may each have different needs and different expectations.

- Advise on whether a client requires a custom build or whether the standard configuration will serve them well — and be trusted to give that advice honestly.

Project Design & Delivery

- Scope and design bespoke IQ implementations: working with clients to understand their governance context, priorities, and preferences, and translating these into a well-structured project brief.

- Build and manage the project plan for each custom engagement, from kick-off through to handover, coordinating across internal product, engineering, and client teams.

- Lead client workshops and working sessions to gather the inputs needed for a successful implementation — governance priorities, strategic context, communication preferences, and board culture.

- Oversee quality assurance of deployed configurations, ensuring the outcome reflects both our governance standards and the client’s specific requirements.

- Produce clear, well-structured documentation that captures implementation decisions and supports ongoing client management.

Stakeholder & Product Navigation

- Act as the voice of the client to our internal product and engineering teams — translating commercial and governance requirements into clear, actionable briefs.

- Manage situations where client expectations exceed current product capability with clarity and credibility: being honest about what is possible now, what is on the roadmap, and what falls outside scope.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with senior client contacts, including Company Secretaries, Board Chairs, CFOs, and NEDs — the people who govern the organisations we serve.

- Contribute to product thinking: your client-facing experience gives you insight into what clients actually need, and we want that intelligence to feed back into our roadmap.

Practice Development

- Help build out the methodology, templates, and frameworks for how Board Intelligence delivers AI customisation projects — this practice is new and you will have a hand in shaping it.

- Contribute to thought leadership on the intersection of AI and board governance, supporting our positioning as the leading voice in this space.

- Mentor and support more junior consulting team members as the practice scales.

Essential

- Experience in a client-facing consulting or advisory role, with a track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects to senior audiences.

- Familiarity with the boardroom: whether through working with boards directly, supporting governance functions, writing board papers or operating in a Company Secretariat or governance advisory capacity. \[If you’re thinking of applying and this is the one thing you don’t have, please still get in touch – we can teach you this, but we’d ideally like someone with this expertise\].

- The ability to understand and work with technology products at a functional level — you do not need to write code, but you need to be comfortable engaging with AI-enabled products, configuration choices, and product teams in order to brief internally and manage client expectations.

- Exceptional written and verbal communication: able to explain technical ideas in a clear and compelling way for senior, non-technical audiences.

- Strong commercial instinct: understanding how your work connects to revenue, how to handle pricing conversations, and how to identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities. (You do not need experience of sales; but you do need comfort with commercial concepts).

- Experience selling or delivering consultancy to senior stakeholders.

Highly Desirable

- Direct experience working with boards, NEDs, or governance teams at large organisations in financial services, regulated industries, or large enterprise.

- Exposure to AI-enabled products or technology-led consulting — either in a professional context or through strong personal interest and fluency.

- Understanding of board reporting cycles, board pack quality, and the governance challenges directors face in preparing for meetings.

- Experience in a technology-enabled consultancy or professional services firm where client delivery and product development intersect.

- Comfort working in an early-stage or scaling environment where the playbook is still being written.
