Kanji Group is looking for an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team in Sydney

This is an opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end payroll across a diverse national workforce while working alongside HR and Finance to deliver a high-quality payroll service. **About the Role**

Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, you'll be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processing across multiple payroll cycles. You'll also play a key role in payroll compliance, reporting, system improvements, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical payroll knowledge, attention to detail, and the confidence to work independently.

**Key Responsibilities**

-   Process end-to-end payroll across multiple payroll frequencies, ensuring accuracy and compliance
-   Interpret Awards, Enterprise Agreements, and company policies to ensure correct employee payments
-   Manage payroll activities across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, transfers, leave, and terminations
-   Calculate leave entitlements, superannuation, PAYG, redundancy, and other payroll adjustments
-   Maintain accurate employee records within the payroll system
-   Investigate and resolve payroll queries and discrepancies in a timely manner
-   Process back pays, WorkCover payments, and payroll adjustments
-   Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations, and month-end reporting
-   Produce payroll reports, including headcount, staff movements, leave liabilities, payroll comparisons, and compliance reporting
-   Partner with HR and Finance to ensure payroll data integrity and compliance
-   Support payroll system improvements, testing, and process enhancements
-   Contribute to payroll continuity by providing backup support across the payroll function

**About You**

You're a highly organised payroll professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and continually improving the way payroll is delivered.

You'll bring:

-   At least 5 years' experience in an end-to-end Payroll Officer role
-   Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, taxation, superannuation, Awards, and Enterprise Agreements
-   Experience processing complex payrolls across multiple pay cycles
-   Strong experience using payroll systems, with MicrOPay experience highly regarded
-   Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong reporting capability
-   Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
-   High attention to detail and exceptional numerical accuracy
-   Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities
-   Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships across the business
-   A continuous improvement mindset with experience identifying and implementing payroll efficiencies
