Mechanical Quality Manager – Data Centre Business Unit

The Opportunity

Designer Group is seeking an experienced **Mechanical Quality Manager** to lead mechanical quality performance across our Data Centre Business Unit.

This is a senior Business Unit role supporting multiple major data centre projects, with responsibility for driving consistent quality standards, reducing defects and rework, supporting project teams, and ensuring mechanical installations are delivered in line with client, technical and Designer Group requirements.

You will work closely with Business Unit leadership, Project Managers, Construction, Engineering, Commissioning and site-based QA/QC teams.

Key Responsibilities

-   Lead the Data Centre Business Unit mechanical quality strategy.
-   Provide direction and support to project-based Mechanical QA/QC teams.
-   Ensure consistent mechanical quality standards across all projects.
-   Monitor performance through audits, inspections, KPIs and project reviews.
-   Support project teams with construction planning, installation, testing, commissioning and handover.
-   Oversee Quality Plans, ITPs, inspection records and mechanical quality documentation.
-   Manage trends relating to NCRs, defects, rework and corrective actions.
-   Drive right-first-time delivery and continuous improvement.
-   Support mechanical completion, snagging, punch-list close-out and commissioning readiness.
-   Identify recurring quality issues and share lessons learned across the Business Unit.
-   Support client audits, inspections and quality reviews.
-   Coach and develop Mechanical QA Leads, Engineers and Inspectors.
-   Hold project teams accountable for quality performance and close-out.
-   Escalate significant or recurring quality risks to Business Unit leadership.

## Requirements

What We're Looking For

-   Strong experience in Mechanical QA/QC, Quality Management or Mechanical Construction.
-   Experience within data centres, mission-critical, M&E, pharmaceutical, semiconductor or large-scale engineering projects.
-   Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, installation and inspection requirements.
-   Experience developing and managing Quality Plans and ITPs.
-   Strong understanding of NCR, defect and corrective-action management.
-   Experience with mechanical completion, commissioning and handover.
-   Previous experience leading or supporting QA/QC teams.
-   Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
-   Ability to influence project and operational leadership.
-   Willingness to travel regularly across Designer Group projects.

A qualification in **Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quality Management or a related discipline** would be advantageous.
