## Description

Wrisk Europe GmbH, a subsidiary of UK insurtech leader Wrisk, is seeking a Financial Accountant to support the continued growth of its European MGA operations. Based in Munich, this role will act as the primary finance representative for Germany, taking ownership of local finance activities and supporting the wider business as it expands across the European Union.

The role requires a qualified accountant with strong technical ability, combined with the flexibility to take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities. The successful candidate will need to be hands-on, collaborative, and comfortable working independently while partnering closely with the wider Finance team and stakeholders across the business.

The Financial Accountant will oversee key financial activities for Wrisk Europe GmbH, including insurer reporting via bordereaux and management of insurer payments, financial reporting, statutory reporting, German payroll management and ensuring appropriate financial controls are maintained. This is a technical and varied role requiring strong attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment.

The role will work closely with the wider Finance team and business leaders across Wrisk, contributing to the continued growth and development of our European operations. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced finance professional to play a key role in building and supporting a growing international business.   

Key Responsibilities:   

-   Responsibility for managing the cash flows, bordereaux processes and financial reporting for Wrisk Europe GmbH under local (German GAAP) accounting rules and to provide monthly group reporting to the UK parent entity in conjunction with our external accountants
-   Ensuring our bordereaux reconcile to our Platform policy detail and ensuring correct reporting to our insurers and OEM partners
-   Ensuring that the correct cash has been collected from customers and that we have paid the correct amounts to insurers in line with contractual requirements
-   Responsibility for day-to-day finance administration tasks such as payments to suppliers, posting of invoices, staff expenses
-   Preparation and monitoring of financial KPIs for deals and reporting
-   Development of cash flow forecasting for Wrisk Europe GmbH and company cash flow management
-   Ensuring local tax compliance in conjunction with third party advisors in relation to VAT, Corporation Tax, Transfer pricing 
-   Additional support to help provide audit evidence as part of insurer and/or statutory audits.
-   A successful candidate will likely have experience at a motor insurance broker in Germany and have an understanding of binding authorities and bordereaux.

## Requirements

-   Qualification or degree in finance, accounting, or a related discipline
-   Strong MGA, insurance broker, intermediary, or insurer experience, with a good understanding of insurance finance processes including bordereaux, premium collections, insurer payments, and reconciliations
-   Experience working within a high-performing finance function with responsibility for accurate financial reporting and financial controls
-   Experience working with German GAAP (HGB) accounting requirements and supporting statutory reporting
-   Strong understanding of cash flow management, premium reconciliation processes, and financial controls within an insurance environment
-   Experience preparing management information, financial KPIs, variance analysis, and supporting business decision-making
-   Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate issues, and ensure accurate reporting
-   Ability to work independently, take ownership of finance operations, and manage a broad range of responsibilities as the primary finance representative in Germany
-   Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, insurers, OEM partners, external advisors, and the wider Finance team
-   Strong Excel and financial systems experience, with the ability to analyse data and improve reporting processes
-   Strong English language skills are essential.

**Desirable:**

-   Experience working within a start-up, scale-up, or rapidly growing international business
-   Experience supporting a regulated insurance business and understanding relevant regulatory reporting requirements
-   Experience managing finance operations independently or as the sole finance representative within a location/entity
-   Experience working with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party stakeholders
-   Knowledge of German VAT, corporate tax, and transfer pricing requirements
-   Experience with finance automation, reporting tools, data analysis, SQL, or improving financial reporting processes.
