## Description

**THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR 2070 HEALTH

About Plum**

Plum is India’s leading employee insurance and health benefits platform, backed by Tiger Global and Peak XV Partners, and today the partner of choice for over 6,000+ corporates across the country — from fast-growing startups to some of India’s largest enterprises. Healthcare in India is at an inflection point. Medical inflation is running at 2-3x general inflation, and employer health spend is rising sharply year on year. Yet most of that spend continues to flow into reactive insurance claims rather than into anything that meaningfully improves employee health. Forward-looking employers are now demanding more — and Plum is built to deliver it.

**About the role**

We are looking for a senior clinician to serve as the accountable clinical authority for Plum’s Healthcare business — the leader who defines what good care looks like on our platform, and who ensures we can prove it.

Over the last two years, Plum has built what we believe is the highest-quality virtual primary healthcare product in India — and importantly, the only one that delivers measurably better health outcomes. That business is now expanding rapidly: health checkups and diagnostics, home healthcare, mental health support, and a care orchestration platform that stitches these services into continuous member journeys — combining AI-assisted triage, intelligent orchestration, and nurse-led coordination. Every layer of that system needs a clinician above it. That is this role.

The Medical Director will own clinical outcomes end-to-end: protocols and escalation SOPs across all service lines, the quality and credentialing of our doctor and specialist network, the safety framework for clinical AI and decision support, regulatory compliance (Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020, DPDP Act 2023, ABDM), and the clinical research agenda on Plum’s proprietary health datasets. The role will report to the Head of Healthcare, who owns the overall P&L, and will work closely with the Founders, the care operations and product leaders, and commercial teams.

## Requirements

**Role Requirements**

• MBBS with MD/DNB (or equivalent postgraduate qualification) and active medical registration in India, with 10+ years of clinical experience including 5+ years in digital health, payer-side clinical leadership, hospital quality and medical administration, or health-tech at scale.

• Demonstrated ownership of clinical governance systems — protocols, clinical audits, credentialing, and adverse-event review processes — not just participation in them.

• Working fluency with clinical AI and decision-support systems: the ability to interrogate a model’s clinical validity, define safe operating boundaries for automated care, and say no when the evidence is thin.

• Practical command of India’s digital health regulatory landscape — Telemedicine Practice Guidelines 2020, DPDP Act 2023, and ABDM/ABHA — and experience serving as the named clinical authority in client or regulatory audits.

• Experience building and managing distributed clinician networks: empanelment standards, clinical performance management, and structured quality improvement across telehealth or multi-site care delivery.

• Exposure to clinical research methodology — study design, validation of predictive models, or population-health analysis — with the rigor to ensure every external clinical claim Plum makes is defensible.

• A builder’s mindset: experience with AI in healthcare, and the appetite to write the first version of every protocol, hire the clinical team, and shape clinical governance into a durable competitive advantage rather than a compliance checkbox.

**What Success Looks Like**

• Within 12 months, clinical governance is documented, operational, and audit-ready across every service line — teleconsult, checkups, home healthcare, and care coordination.

• The care orchestration platform is live with a signed-off clinical safety framework, and no AI-generated recommendation reaches a member without protocols this role has approved.

• The doctor network runs on a structured quality-management cycle, with consult quality measurably improving quarter on quarter.

• At least two evidence outputs — a validated risk model or a published population-health study — are in market use, powering both member care and enterprise sales.
