## Description

The successful candidate will be required to work within the Crisis and Security Consulting team to develop and service clients throughout Greater China or other locations as may be directed by the Company.

This is a key lead for Advisory and Risk consulting delivery in Greater China North Asia (“GCNA”) and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region (“APAC”) and globally. The role also requires business development and marketing efforts.

This is a fee-earning role for an experienced risk professional and seasoned expert in risk consulting space– leading, managing and delivering and developing high-quality consulting and globally, coordinating with colleagues in our offices worldwide. Ideally, the candidate has subject matter expertise with and experience in some of these areas -- risk management and governance, ethics and compliance, crisis management and communications, business resilience and continuity, enterprise culture, change management, and government liaison.

This position will also play an important role in generating opportunities with new and existing clients by leveraging existing resources as well as building new capabilities.

Success in this role means building a larger and sustainable risk consulting and advisory business in GCNA.

The candidate will be well networked within the industry and have a strong personal brand in risk management and consulting.

More experienced candidates will be considered for a Principal level.

## Requirements

**Role tasks and responsibilities**

Lead on excellent engagement delivery

-   Lead on the scoping and delivery of consulting tasks, including resilience planning, crisis management readiness and training, risk management and governance, and business continuity. Utilise specialist resources from around the APAC region and the group to profitably deliver high-quality outcomes.
-   Lead on the scoping and delivery of complex consulting matters involving multiple service lines and subject matter experts in Control Risks, and lead on scoping and delivery of client solutions in the ethics and compliance practice, including innovations in sensitive investigations methodologies and creating programs to assess enterprise culture and manage change.  
    Project manage and with a regional cross functional team deliver the full range of consulting services engagements within GCNA and across APAC.
-   Lead on specialist crisis response tasks and complex assessment and problem-solving engagements -- with commercial disputes, business restructurings, workplace conduct matters, regulatory investigations, asset protection threats, product recalls, extortive threats, employee malfeasance and cyber breaches.
-   Understand the threats and risks faced by organisations in a variety of operating environments and across a range of industry sectors -- professional services, education, health care and pharmaceutical, biotech, advanced technology, FMCG and industrial manufacturing.
-   Act as a trusted advisor to key clients, position Control Risks’ and consulting practise as the leading risk consultancy services provider in the region.

Business development

-   Building strong and profitable client relationships across a portfolio of multinationals and private enterprises.  
    Working closely with existing resources in the market, generating commercial opportunities with new and existing clients for risk management and governance projects, ethics and compliance assessments and advisory projects, and outsourced consulting assignments.
-   Actively contributing to thought leadership, marketing and business development activities in mainland China, Hong Kong, South Korea and throughout APAC.
-   Effectively identifying and explaining the nuances of threats, risks, regulatory considerations, geopolitical drivers and the relevant cultural context to audiences outside Greater China.
-   Keeping up-to-date on developments and best practices in risk management and governance, crisis management and communications, resilience and business continuity, and ethics and compliance .

-   Working collaboratively with country management, marketing teams and other practises to develop a consistent, credible and highly visible brand.  
    Lead, motivate and develop high performing consultants.

**Role requirements**

Knowledge and experience  
  
Essential

-   Over 10 years of experience in resilience and business continuity, ethics and compliance, risk management and governance, crisis management and communications, and/or legal and regulatory advisory work, and success in a senior-level role in business consulting and developing and leading a practice.
-   Client engagement, business development, sales and marketing experience, with a demonstrated track record of improving client relationships.
-   Experience working collaboratively with a broad range of other subject matter and country specific experts, and working as part of a team to scope, pitch and resolve complex client issues.
-   A network of clients and contacts across GCNA, and a network across APAC.
-   Experience incorporating new technology into consulting solutions, innovating to resolve client issues and productizing key offerings.

-   Work independently with limited direction, engage proactively and take initiative to assess and resolve issues.
-   Work under pressure, respond to fast-moving challenges and guide clients in solving complex problems with incomplete information in an environment of uncertainty.
-   Create and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
-   Have excellent and effective oral and written communications skills, and deliver engaging presentations and authoritative advice to mid- and senior-level management teams and boards of directors.

Qualifications and specialist skills  
  
Essential

-   Excellent spoken and written English and Mandarin Chinese.
-   Greater China client and business experience.
-   Completed at least a university degree in a relevant or related field, such as risk management, government relations, public affairs, law, communications or international relations.
-   Strong commercial acumen (financial management, legal and contractual skills).
-   Effective decision making and judgement.
-   Excellent planning and organizational skills.
-   Strong leadership and interpersonal skills - building trust and rapport.
