### **Critical Care Intensivist (MD/DO)**

### **Position Summary**

The Critical Care Intensivist provides comprehensive medical management of critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. This role involves the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of complex, life-threatening conditions, coordination of multidisciplinary care, and leadership of ICU clinical teams to ensure high-quality, patient-centered outcomes.

### **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**

-   Provide direct care for critically ill patients in medical, surgical, cardiac, or mixed intensive care units
-   Evaluate and manage acute respiratory failure, shock, sepsis, multi-organ dysfunction, and other critical conditions
-   Perform and supervise critical care procedures, including airway management, mechanical ventilation, vascular access, and hemodynamic monitoring, consistent with training and privileges
-   Lead daily multidisciplinary rounds and coordinate care with consulting services
-   Interpret and integrate diagnostic data, including imaging and laboratory results
-   Communicate effectively with patients’ families regarding clinical status, prognosis, and goals of care
-   Participate in rapid response and code teams, as required
-   Provide nighttime, weekend, and on-call coverage per service needs
-   Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff, as applicable
-   Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation
-   Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and ICU performance initiatives
-   Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

### **Qualifications**

-   Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
-   Completion of an accredited residency program (e.g., Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, or Pulmonary)
-   Completion of an accredited Critical Care Medicine fellowship
-   Board-eligible or board-certified in Critical Care Medicine
-   Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
-   DEA registration or eligibility
-   ACLS certification

### **Physical Requirements**

-   Ability to stand and move throughout ICU environments for extended periods
-   Manual dexterity for bedside procedures
-   Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient monitoring and emergency response
