Altom Transport is hiring an experienced **2nd Shift HM183 Cargo Tank Mechanic** at our Pasadena, TX shop. You’ll be working indoors, on well-maintained equipment, with the tools and parts you actually need to do the job right the first time. ## Requirements

**Required**

-   **Active HM183 Registered Inspector status** with PHMSA — or current eligibility to register (we’ll help you complete registration)
-   Minimum **2 years of diesel tractor experience**
-   Minimum **1 year of trailer/tanker experience**
-   Working knowledge of **49 CFR Parts 178, 180, and 393**
-   Ability to read and interpret DOT regulations, OEM service manuals, and electrical/hydraulic schematics
-   Comfortable working around liquid bulk product residue, including hazmat
-   Own basic hand tools (we supply specialty tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment)
-   Valid driver’s license
-   Must pass pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check
-   Authorized to work in the United States
-   Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
-   _In lieu of experience, completion of an applicable technical/trade school will be recognized_

**Preferred**

-   Current **V, I, P, L, T, and U** cargo tank inspection qualifications
-   Hands-on experience with **DOT 406, 407, 412 and MC 306, 307, 312** cargo tanks
-   Class A or B CDL (not required — but a strong plus, and we offer pay bumps for CDL holders)
-   ASE certifications (T-series in particular)
-   Hazmat endorsement
-   Welding certification (MIG/TIG on stainless or aluminum)
-   Prior experience at a tanker carrier, petrochemical, or food-grade hauler
