## Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the position below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

**Position:       Laboratory Technician (2 Positions)**  

**Contract:       6 months' renewable contract**                                           

**Location: Ibadan**

**Closing Date: 21 October 2026**

**DUTIES**

·       Carry out SAH production activities including nodal cutting, establishment and multiplication cassava materials.

·       Monitor plant growth and maintain appropriate environmental and hygiene conditions in the screen house.

·       Follow SOPs, safety procedures, and quality standards during all SAH operations.

·       Identify and report pests, diseases, contamination, and other production challenges.

·       Maintain proper labelling, identification, and handling of cassava genotypes and planting materials.

·       Ensure proper handling, storage and maintenance of SAH consumables, tools and other production materials.

·       Keep accurate records of plantlet production, transplanting, survival, and other production data.

·       Assist with nursery management and routine management.

·       Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

## Requirements

**QUALIFICATION**

National Diploma (ND) in Laboratory Science Technology or related field with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a well-structured organization.

**COMPETENCIES**

The ideal candidate must have:

·       Must have strong interpersonal communication, listening and teamwork skills

·       Practical knowledge of cassava propagation and SAH technology

·       Ability to access situation and problem-solving skills

·       Good record-keeping and data management skills.
