## Description

Purpose:

To serve as a senior technical authority in backend engineering, designing highly scalable and resilient backend solutions and driving technical standards, architecture alignment, and engineering excellence. 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

-   Design complex backend architectures, services, APIs, and integration patterns across multiple squads. 

-   Act as senior technical authority for critical backend systems and lead their implementation. 

-   Define and enforce backend engineering standards, patterns, and development practices. 

-   Ensure solutions meet scalability, security, resilience, performance, and availability requirements. 

-   Design for high availability and resilience in payment-critical, always-on services. 

-   Review complex code, technical designs, and implementation approaches. 

-   Resolve critical production incidents and drive root-cause remediation. 

-   Optimize application performance, database interactions, and service communication. 

-   Align designs with enterprise architecture, security, and regulatory requirements. 

-   Identify architectural risks, technical debt, and improvement opportunities. 

-   Mentor backend engineers and raise the technical bar across the chapter. 

-   Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption. 

-   Contribute to architectural decisions and technology roadmaps.

## Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

-   Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master’s preferred. 

-   5+ years of backend engineering experience, including senior or lead technical ownership. 

-   Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture. 

-   Strong background in security, performance engineering, and production operations at scale. 

-   Payments, banking, or regulated financial services experience. 

-   Professional Certificates.
