## Description

As a Registered Nurse for Aurora Behavioral Healthcare San Diego, you'll provide general and psychiatric nursing care to adults with emotional or psychiatric disorders. You will provide interventions that: promote and foster health; assess dysfunction; assist patients to regain or improve their coping abilities; maximize patient strengths and prevent further disability. These interventions focus on the psychiatric-mental health patient and include health promotion and health maintenance; monitoring patients and assisting them with self-care activities; monitoring psycho-biological treatment regimens; providing triage decisions and facilitating patient movement into appropriate services.

**\*Pay Range: $50/hr. to $67/hr.**

**\*Available Shifts:**

**Full Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)**

**Part Time: AM Shift (7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.), PM Shift (3:00 P.M. to 11:30 P.M.), NOC Shift (11:00 P.M. to 7:30 A.M.)**

**Responsibilities:**

-   Collects and analyzes data regarding the patient’s physical, psychological, self-care, educational, and anticipated discharge planning needs
-   Develops a comprehensive outline of care to be delivered to attain expected outcomes; includes in this plan, specific goals and interventions delineating nursing actions unique to each patient
-   Maintains effective communication with all units and departments
-   Supervises direct patient care as required
-   Carries out medication management responsibilities
-   Conducts patient community meetings
-   Provides input into the discharge planning process
-   Maintain patient, and unit related documentation
-   Maintain a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for patients

**Skills:**

-   Demonstrates sound leadership skills and critical thinking
-   Basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult psychiatric population
-   The familiarity of Psychopharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with the adult psychiatric population
-   Basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills

## Requirements

-   Current California Registered Nurse License
-   BLS (Basic Life Support ) Certification for Healthcare Providers - American Heart Association
-   **Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse (PMHN) HIGHLY preferred**
-   **3 to 5 years of RN Psychiatric experience HIGHLY preferred**
