The Role:  
**As a Security Architect, you'll play a critical role in shaping the security architecture that protects Australia's payments infrastructure. Working across enterprise technology initiatives, you'll embed Secure by Design principles from concept through to delivery, ensuring solutions are secure, resilient and aligned to business objectives. As a trusted advisor, you'll influence architectural decisions, balance security risk with delivery outcomes, and help drive a security-first engineering culture across the organisation.

Key outcomes the role will own:**

-   Lead Secure by Design engagements, ensuring security is embedded throughout the solution delivery lifecycle.
-   Define security architecture, design patterns and technical standards that enable secure, scalable and resilient technology solutions.
-   Conduct architecture assessments across cloud platforms, applications, infrastructure, APIs and third-party technologies, providing pragmatic, risk-based recommendations.
-   Provide expert security architecture advice, influencing solution design, technology selection, governance decisions and risk management outcomes.
-   Drive architecture assurance through design reviews, security governance, risk assessments and architecture approvals.
-   Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Delivery and Risk teams to ensure security requirements are understood, implemented and effectively assured.
-   Develop and maintain reusable security reference architectures, standards and Secure by Design guidance to improve consistency across the organisation.
-   Champion continuous improvement by evolving security architecture frameworks, governance practices and security capabilities in response to emerging technologies, threats and regulatory requirements.

**Required experience to be successful in the role:  
**We're looking for an experienced Security Architect who can combine strategic thinking with pragmatic delivery and confidently influence security outcomes across complex technology environments. You'll bring:

-   Demonstrated experience designing and assuring secure technology solutions across enterprise-scale environments.
-   Proven experience embedding Secure by Design principles into software development and technology delivery lifecycles.
-   Strong experience assessing cloud platforms, SaaS solutions, APIs, infrastructure, applications and third-party technologies from a security architecture perspective.
-   Deep knowledge of security architecture frameworks, secure software development, cloud security, identity and access management, threat modelling, DevSecOps and security control frameworks.
-   Experience balancing business priorities with security risk, providing practical architecture guidance that enables delivery while protecting critical assets.
-   Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate complex security concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
-   Experience working collaboratively across Enterprise Architecture, Engineering, Product, Risk and Delivery teams within complex organisations.
-   Relevant tertiary qualifications in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, with industry certifications such as SABSA, TOGAF, CISSP, CCSP or equivalent highly regarded.
