## Description

**Accounts Assistant**

**Location: Rotherham (hybrid role, 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home)**

**Salary: up to £32,500 per annum depending on experience**

**Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week Mon-Fri**

We are looking for an Accounts Assistant responsible for day to day finance department activities, including completion of month end & year end duties in accordance with strict deadlines.  Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate must be able to provide insightful management information to both local Management Teams & Central Functions.

**Key Responsibilities:** 

-   Raising and Goods Receipting of Purchase Orders, Checking of Purchase Orders from other users, Closing and Maintenance of Purchase Orders
-   Reconciliation of Disposal Invoices to Monthly Data
-   Raising of Recyclate Income Invoices ensuring correct revenue prices are used and tonnage data supplied is accurate
-   Preparation of Specific Waste invoice to Council
-   Preparation of month end accounts including posting accruals and prepayments journals, preparing monthly tonnage files, maintenance of master contracts file etc
-   Balance Sheet reconciliations
-   Month end accounts reporting
-   Monthly meetings to review & analyse variance to budgets/forecast with Senior Managers, provision of data to drive improvement
-   Preparation of aspects of the monthly council report (Progress Report)
-   Supporting the preparation of the Annual Service & Environmental Report
-   Assisting the Controller with the preparation of monthly business reporting, 5 year business plan, annual budget and quarterly business forecasting
-   Provide tools for effective cost control on projects
-   Data provision for annual audit.

**Essential criteria:** 

-   CIMA/ACCA/ACA part-qualified (or equivalent)
-   Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
-   Excellent numeracy and literacy skills
-   Previous experience working in an accountancy based role
-   Ability to work in a methodical and logical manor to a high level of accuracy
-   Possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to communicate to all levels within the business
