The Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) is seeking to recruit a Fundraising Manager to lead and strengthen the organisation's fundraising efforts and support the implementation of the APT's Strategic Plan.

 The Association for the Prevention of Torture (APT) is a Swiss international non-governmental human rights organisation established in 1977. APT works for societies without torture and ill-treatment, advocating at the international, regional and national levels with an approach based on cooperation, dialogue and partnerships. Our multicultural team of 16 staff comprises members working in Geneva and in different locations around the world.

 • Influencing national, regional and international legal frameworks, standards, policies and practices to reduce the risks of torture and ill-treatment

• Supporting partners' efforts to advance torture prevention, contributing our respective expertise and resources to maximise impact

**Main role and responsabilities**

 The Fundraising Manager will lead the development and implementation of APT's fundraising strategy and oversee relationships with existing and prospective donors. Reporting to the Secretary General, they will work closely with APT Senior Advisers, the Head of Operations, the Finance Manager and the Communications Manager to secure resources that enable the association to deliver its mission and strategic objectives. The Fundraising Manager will oversee a portfolio of institutional donors and foundations that currently support an annual organisational budget of approximately CHF 2,5 million.

Fundraising strategy and donor engagement

• Develop, implement and regularly review APT's fundraising strategy

• Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing institutional donors and other funding partners, supporting APT management with high-quality stewardship of donor relations

• Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, contributing to the diversification of APT's funding base

• Develop strategic engagement plans and tailored communications for existing and prospective donors

• Provide regular analysis and updates on APT's funding situation to support decision-making by senior management and governance bodies (Bureau, Board, General Assembly).

Grant management and donor accountability

• Lead the preparation and submission of donor applications, in close cooperation with all relevant colleagues

• Coordinate donor reporting processes and ensure timely, accurate and high-quality reporting

• Work closely with operations and finance colleagues to ensure compliance with donor contracts and other requirements

• Develop and maintain a donor and grant database, including donor requirements

Organisational support and representation

• Contribute to the development of communication materials that support fundraising efforts

• Support the implementation of APT's monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning processes to strengthen evidence-based reporting to donors in accordance with APT’s measurement framework

• Develop and maintain a network of fundraising and philanthropy professionals

• Represent the APT in relevant meetings, conferences and events

• Supervise interns and external consultants supporting fundraising activities, as applicable

## Requirements

Education

• University degree or equivalent higher education qualification in fundraising, marketing, philanthropy, or related field e.g. international relations, project management, etc.

Experience

• A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience in fundraising, donor relations, grant management or organisational development within the non-profit, international development or human rights sectors

• Demonstrated experience securing and managing funding from a variety of donors (public and private institutional donors, as well as individuals)

• Strong networks within the donors and philanthropic communities in Switzerland 

• Experience coordinating complex funding proposals and donor reports

• Experience working in an international and multicultural environment

Knowledge and skills

• Strong commitment to human rights values, as well as to dialogue and partnerships

• Proactive approach with a strong sense of autonomy and accountability

• Excellent writing, communication and relationship-building skills

• Strong strategic thinking, planning and organisational skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams and functions

• Excellent analytical skills and confidence working with budgets and financial information

• Strong attention to detail

• Full professional proficiency (written and spoken) in English and French. Additional languages are an asset

• Availability to travel occasionally (mainly within Switzerland)

• Applicants must hold a valid work permit for Switzerland or be EU/EFTA citizens

## Benefits

Monthly salary: CHF 7’500 to 8’000.- at 100% commensurate with qualifications and experience.
