## Description

Texas Sports Academy is a K-12 school designed for serious student-athletes who want both elite academics and high-level athletic development. Students cover 2x the material in just 2 hours a day, using the same 2-Hour Learning model as Alpha Schools. That frees up their entire afternoon for serious training, where they work alongside former pro and D1 athletes coaching them at the highest standard.

We are hiring an Academic Coach to sit at the intersection of analytics and student coaching. You turn messy student performance data into clear, timely academic action, and then you sit with the student and actually move the needle. One hour you are analyzing performance data to spot risk early and justify placement decisions with defensible reasoning. The next hour you are face-to-face with a student over video, diagnosing where they are stuck and helping them break through before a small gap becomes a real failure.

### What You'll Do

- Analyze Student Performance Data: Turn raw student data into clean, actionable academic reports that trigger timely interventions. Use Google Sheets fluently and lean on AI tools to move faster.
- Own Academic Outcomes for Your Students: Take end-to-end ownership of an assigned group of students, including placement decisions, testing decisions, and follow-up actions. You are accountable for outcomes.
- Run Rapid Academic Rescue Sessions: When a student is stuck or falling behind, meet with them fast, diagnose the root cause, and resolve the blocker in real time.
- Conduct Post-Test Coaching Sessions: Sit with students after assessments to separate real knowledge gaps from careless mistakes and assign targeted next steps.
- Coach Students Directly: Build real trust with your students. Give direct, honest feedback, hold the standard, and help them move forward without hand-holding.
- Partner With Academic Leaders and Parent Support: Escalate risks quickly, flag patterns you see in the data, and help improve the tools and processes we use.

### What You Will Not Be Doing

- Generating reports that no one acts on
- Working purely behind the scenes with no student interaction
- Passing academic ownership to teachers, tutors, or parents
- Running generic tutoring sessions without clear diagnostic goals
- Waiting weeks to respond to emerging student issues

## Requirements

- Coaching or Instructional Background: At least one year in a coaching, instructional, or training role with a documented outcome or clear feedback on your impact.
- Hands-On K-8 Student Experience: At least one year of real, hands-on work with K-8 students. Occasional tutoring does not qualify.
- Analytical Background: Real experience in data science, education, EdTech, or student support work that combined analysis and direct interpersonal work.
- Strong Google Sheets Proficiency: You are fluent with lookups, filters, pivot tables, and charts. You can build a clean report without much ramp-up.
- Fluent Written and Spoken English: Your English is clear, warm, and professional. You can hold a real conversation with a student, a parent, or an academic lead.
- High Emotional Intelligence: You build trust with students and parents quickly and can hold a hard conversation without losing the room.
- AI Fluency: You have used AI tools to analyze data or automate workflows with measurable efficiency gains, and you keep looking for ways to move faster.
- Ownership Mindset: You take real accountability for outcomes. You do not hand off responsibility, and you do not wait for someone to tell you what to do.
- Location and Setup: Fully remote, open globally. Reliable internet and a quiet space you can run video sessions from. Available during standard U.S. business hours, Central Time.

### Bonus Points

- Tutoring Platform Experience: You have worked on Wyzant, Preply, or a similar tutoring platform with strong reviews and repeat students.
- EdTech or Data Analyst Background: You have worked at an EdTech company or in a data analyst role where your work directly moved outcomes.
- Teaching Credentials: You have a teaching background, teaching certificate, or comparable formal instructional training.
