## Description

We are seeking a technically experienced and creative Look Development Artist to join our visual effects team. 

In this role, you will be responsible for developing the final shaded appearance of characters, creatures, environments, and props, balancing both artistic vision and technical requirements. 

You will work closely with surfacing, lighting and modeling to ensure assets achieve the highest level of realism and consistency across shots.

Reports to : Head of Assets

### Key Responsibilities:

-   Creation of Asset Look development that matches onset data.
-   Develop photorealistic materials and shaders using Arnold.
-   Collaborate with surfacing and texturing artists to refine surface qualities.
-   Ensure consistency of asset’s look across lighting environments and shots.
-   Prepare diagnostics and ensure assets perform well in production.
-   Optimize shaders for render performance.  
      
    

### Qualifications:

-   Proven experience in look development, shading, for high-end VFX or animation productions.
-   Exceptional eye for detail, realism, and material response across a variety of asset types (organics, hard-surface, environments).
-   Expert knowledge of Arnold and look dev in Houdini.  
    Experience with texturing tools such as Substance Painter/Designer, Mari, or similar.
-   Deep understanding of physically based rendering (PBR) workflows and shader networks.
-   Proficiency in color management and rendering optimization.
-   Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
-   Experience working with Photogrammetry data sets.  
      
    

### Preferred Skills:

-   Experience working with USD-based pipelines and real-time engines.
-   Familiarity with grooming and procedural modeling tools.
