## Description

At Vessev, we create marine technology to move the world forward – electric hydrofoiling vessels that are better for people and the planet.

With strong momentum, global interest, and major milestones ahead, we’re looking for a driven and creative PR manager to build our PR strategy and help drive a constant drumbeat of global coverage.

This is a great opportunity for someone who loves media relations, enjoys writing across different formats, and wants to apply that craft in an exciting, emerging category.

### The role

You'll be joining a small, tight-knit marketing team at a pivotal moment for the business. Over the first few months, you'll work alongside our existing PR agency as you get up to speed,  before taking full ownership of our PR.

You'll also work closely with our awesome US-based contractor who leads strategy and execution for our top-tier, investor media in the US. You'll be their main point of contact on our end, and own everything outside of that remit.

This is a role for someone who thrives on earned coverage, loves building media relationships, and wants to shape how a genuinely new category comes to life around the world.

### What you’ll be doing

**Leading our PR and earned media**

- Developing and owning our global PR strategy and execution (outside of US top tier and investor media).
- Identifying and pitching podcast appearances, YouTube collaborations, and other earned content opportunities.
- Proactive pitching, identifying timely hooks, and inserting Vessev into the conversations that matter across design, transport, climate, technology, and business media.
- Building and maintaining a strong global network of journalists and editors.
- Identifying and pursuing awards and speaking opportunities.
- Working closely with leadership to develop thought leadership opportunities.

**Writing and shaping content**

- Writing across formats including press releases, op-eds, white papers, blogs, and LinkedIn content.
- Creating earned and owned content that works together and tells a consistent story.
- Writing confidently in Vessev’s brand voice and adapting it for different channels and audiences.

- Working closely with our engineers, product team, and leadership to understand what we’re building and why it matters.
- Turning complex ideas into clear, human-centred stories that resonate.

**Testing and learning**

- Keeping across trends, competitor activity, and relevant news, becoming a go-to source of industry knowledge internally.
- Tracking coverage and performance to understand what’s really working. You’re happy to test and learn as we go to understand what’s working, what’s not, and what we can do differently.

### **About you**

You don’t need to be an expert in marine, hydrofoiling, or electric transport. What matters most is that you’re a strong communicator, a curious thinker, and someone who takes ownership of their work. You’re extremely flexible and adaptable, and will thrive in a startup environment where things are constantly evolving.

Experience across both B2B and B2C is helpful, but at the end of the day, we believe all marketing is B2H: business to human. If you are a strong storyteller and people-person, that’s what matters.

You’re energised by building something new and love being both across the strategy and on the tools.
**
We’re looking for someone with**

- 8+ years of experience in PR or communications (agency or in-house) with a track record of earning meaningful coverage.

- A strong pitching instinct and proven ability to build and maintain effective media relationships.
- Excellent content writing ability across formats and audiences.
- A creative and resourceful mindset. You can find and create a story where others might not.
- The ability to understand technical information and how our technology works.
- A strong work ethic and a can-do attitude – we all roll up our sleeves, and no job's too big or small.
- A collaborative mindset and a desire to do great work together.
- A passion for meaningful and purpose-driven work.

**Bonus experience**

- Experience working across or in international markets, particularly pitching to and building relationships with Australian or US media.
- Experience writing compelling award entries and industry submissions.
- Experience in (or curiosity about) the deep tech or marine industry.

### **About us**

We’re here to set a better world in motion – cleaner air, better commutes, and deeper connections with nature and each other. Our hydrofoiling electric vessels use up to 90% less energy than traditional boats, unlocking entirely new opportunities.

We’re backed by top-tier investors including Blackbird Ventures, and our team includes talent from the America’s Cup, Rocketlab, Halter, Apple, and leading climate startups. But titles don’t matter here – what matters is how we show up: with purpose, humility, and a restless optimism for what’s possible.

We’re office-first but not office-only. We believe in building together, in person, where the real magic happens. That said, we trust our team to do what’s right and we know life isn’t one-size-fits-all.

**Why our people love Vessev**

- We’re building something different – from how we move on the water to the kind of team and workplace we’re creating.
- The chance to work on technology that can drive real, lasting impact in the world.
- A team of exceptional and collaborative humans.
- 20 weeks fully paid parental leave for primary caregivers, and 4 weeks for secondary (conditions apply).
- Competitive salaries that reflect the value of the work.
- Being on the water is part of our job – from trips on our vessels to our offices that border the Tamaki River.
- And if the water’s where you want to be, you’ll be in good company. You’ll find no shortage of boaters, beach goers, sailors, foilers, surfers, and kiteboarders here.

###
**Apply now**

To apply, send us your CV and a short cover letter that gives us a sense of who you are and why this role feels like the right fit.

Research shows that women and other under-represented groups often only apply when they meet every requirement, even though they could be an excellent fit. If you see yourself doing great work here but don’t tick every box, we’d still love to hear from you. We’re building a team where everyone has the chance to do their best work.
