## Description

### **Senior Network Engineer | Kanji IT**

**Own the Network. Solve the Hard Problems. Keep APAC Connected.**

Kanji IT is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to take ownership of enterprise network operations, infrastructure, and L3 escalation across a complex APAC environment.

Based in Sydney CBD, this is a hands-on senior role for an engineer who is equally comfortable troubleshooting BGP and OSPF, diving into Linux networking, analysing packet captures, and solving complex infrastructure issues.

You’ll work as part of a follow-the-sun technical team across Sydney, Auckland, and Perth, collaborating closely with infrastructure, security, development, and support teams.

**About the Role**

You’ll be a key technical escalation point responsible for keeping Kanji IT’s LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data centre networks reliable, secure, and highly available.

This role combines network engineering, Linux administration, troubleshooting, automation, and continuous improvement. You’ll have genuine ownership of the environment and the opportunity to improve how the network is designed, monitored, documented, and operated.

**Key Responsibilities**

- Act as the L3 escalation point for complex network incidents and problems
- Operate, troubleshoot, and optimise enterprise LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data centre networks
- Design, peer-review, implement, and validate network changes
- Troubleshoot BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, LACP, MLAG/VPC, QoS, and policy-based routing
- Perform packet captures, traffic analysis, and root-cause investigations
- Manage enterprise WiFi infrastructure, including Extreme Networks controllers
- Troubleshoot 802.1X, RADIUS, WPA2/WPA3, roaming, and guest networks
- Administer Linux environments across CentOS and Ubuntu
- Troubleshoot Linux networking using iproute2, nftables/iptables, tc, namespaces, bonding, bridging, and VLANs
- Manage enterprise firewalls, VPNs, and Linux-based firewalling
- Support network monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
- Develop automation and tooling using Bash and Python or Go
- Maintain accurate network architecture and operational documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation, performance, and support processes

**About You**

You’re a senior network engineer who enjoys getting into the detail and solving problems properly.

You’ll bring:

- 5+ years’ network engineering experience, including 2+ years at senior/L3 level
- Strong production experience with BGP and OSPF
- Advanced Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 troubleshooting skills
- Strong Linux administration skills, with the ability to troubleshoot networking from the command line
- Experience managing enterprise wireless environments
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network fundamentals
- Experience with enterprise firewalls and VPNs
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Excellent documentation and incident communication skills
- Experience with Bash and at least one scripting language such as Python, Go, Ruby, or PowerShell
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams

**Nice to Have**

- Ansible or other network automation experience
- Experience with Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk, Datadog, or similar monitoring platforms
- CCNP, CCIE, RHCE, or relevant industry certifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline

**Why Join KGIT?**

- Senior technical role with genuine ownership of the network
- Work across a complex APAC environment
- Sydney CBD location at 37 York Street
- Be part of a follow-the-sun technical team across Sydney, Auckland, and Perth
- Work closely with infrastructure, security, development, and technology leaders
- Opportunity to drive automation and improve network reliability
- Solve challenging technical problems across a Linux-heavy environment

If you’re a senior network engineer who likes getting to the root cause, improving systems, and taking ownership of critical infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
