Vista Wine & Spirits is a growing retail and distribution company based in Santee, CA. We operate in a fast-paced, inventory-driven environment where accurate books, clean reporting, and strong financial controls are essential.

We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented **Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist** who is experienced with **QuickBooks Online**, journal entries, reconciliations, financial reporting, and advanced Excel analysis.

This role is best suited for someone who can independently manage day-to-day bookkeeping responsibilities, keep financial records clean, and support accurate reporting for management.

### About the Role

The Senior Bookkeeper / Accounting Specialist will help manage the company’s daily accounting activity, including transaction categorization, vendor bills, customer invoices, bill payments, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reports.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working inside QuickBooks Online daily, understands how transactions flow through the general ledger, and can produce accurate Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports.

This is a full-time hybrid position based out of our **Santee, CA** location. The role is primarily on-site, with some remote work days available after training and based on performance.

### Key Responsibilities

-   Categorize daily transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online
-   Maintain clean and organized books across accounts
-   Review, enter, and oversee vendor bills
-   Assist with customer invoices and payment tracking
-   Process bill payments and maintain proper supporting documentation
-   Prepare and post journal entries and adjusting entries
-   Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
-   Investigate and correct reconciliation discrepancies
-   Run and review Profit & Loss reports, Balance Sheets, and other financial reports
-   Support month-end close and ensure reports are accurate and complete
-   Help maintain organized digital accounting records
-   Use Excel to analyze financial data, identify issues, and support reporting
-   Communicate with management and accounting leadership regarding financial questions or discrepancies
-   Assist with process improvements and stronger bookkeeping controls

### Schedule

-   Full-time
-   Monday to Friday
-   Primarily on-site in Santee, CA
-   Some remote work days available after training and based on performance

## Requirements

### Required Qualifications

-   3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or similar finance experience
-   Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online
-   Ability to independently categorize transactions and maintain accurate books
-   Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
-   Experience preparing or supporting journal entries
-   Ability to read and understand Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets
-   Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, filtering, sorting, and data analysis
-   Strong attention to detail and accuracy
-   Ability to work independently and stay organized
-   Clear communication skills
-   Reliable commute to Santee, CA

### Preferred Qualifications

-   Experience in retail, distribution, inventory-based businesses, or alcohol beverage operations
-   Experience with inventory, COGS, vendor bills, purchase orders, and sales tax reconciliation
-   Experience supporting month-end close
-   Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
-   QuickBooks certification or willingness to complete QuickBooks training
