## Description

**Location:** Care Home Setting

**Support Type:** 1:1 Behavioural Support

**Hours:** As required by the care home

**Start Date:** Immediate / subject to availability

PAY RATE : £15.24 - £17.61 an hour

### **Role Purpose**

To provide **safe, consistent, and person‑centred 1:1 support** to a resident who presents **challenging behaviours**, including verbal aggression and discriminatory remarks. The HCA will work closely with the care home team to maintain safety, reduce distress, and promote positive engagement.

Key Responsibilities :

-   Provide **continuous 1:1 supervision** to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the resident and surrounding staff/residents.
-   Use **de‑escalation techniques**, calm communication, and professional boundaries to manage challenging behaviours.
-   Maintain a **non‑reactive, professional approach** when faced with discriminatory or racist remarks.
-   Support the resident with **daily living tasks**, personal care (if required), mobility, and engagement in meaningful activities.
-   Monitor and record behavioural patterns, triggers, and incidents in line with care home policies.
-   Work collaboratively with senior staff, nurses, and management to follow behavioural support plans.
-   Ensure all care is delivered in accordance with **safeguarding**, **dignity**, **respect**, and **professional conduct** standards.
-   Maintain consistent communication with the care home team and report concerns promptly

## Requirements

-   Experience supporting individuals with **challenging behaviours**, mental health needs, or cognitive impairment.
-   Strong **behaviour‑management** and **de‑escalation** skills.
-   Ability to remain calm, composed, and professional under pressure.
-   Experience working in care homes or similar environments.
-   Understanding of safeguarding, risk management, and incident reporting.
-   Reliable, consistent, and able to build therapeutic rapport with the resident.
