**Position Overview:**

Greenlife Healthcare Staffing is currently seeking a **Registered Nurse (Neuro Stepdown (SDU))** to fill an opening at a hospital located in Marrero, LA. This role is ideal for an RN who specializes in caring for patients transitioning from the Neuro ICU to medical-surgical floors, managing those with acute neurological conditions requiring frequent monitoring but not critical care intensity.

**Key Responsibilities:**

-   Perform frequent neurological assessments (every 2-4 hours), including pupil checks, motor strength, sensation, coordination, and Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) scoring.
-   Monitor patients with acute ischemic stroke, post-tPA (without ICU transfer), transient ischemic attacks (TIAs), seizure disorders, brain tumors, post-neurosurgical patients (stable), and head trauma with mild deficits.
-   Manage continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring, identifying and responding to arrhythmias or changes in vital signs.
-   Administer medications including anti-epileptics (levetiracetam, phenytoin), anticoagulants, anti-hypertensives (labetalol, hydralazine), and IV fluids.
-   Provide post-thrombectomy or post-craniotomy care for stable patients transitioning out of the ICU.
-   Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) while maintaining safety precautions for those with weakness, altered mental status, or fall risk.
-   Educate patients and families on stroke prevention, medication management, rehabilitation goals, and discharge planning.
-   Recognize early signs of neurological deterioration and escalate care to the Neuro ICU or Rapid Response Team as needed.
-   Document all assessments, interventions, and patient education in the EMR accurately and in a timely manner.

## Requirements

**Qualifications:**

-   **Education:** Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing (RN) program (Associate's or Bachelor's degree).
-   **Licensure:** Active Louisiana state RN license and current BLS Certification.
-   **Experience:** At least one year of relevant experience is required.
-   **Technical Skills:** Proficient in telemetry monitoring, neurological assessments (including GCS), oxygen therapy, tracheostomy care, suctioning, IV medication administration, and management of IV drips such as heparin or nicardipine (non-titratable).
-   **Soft Skills:** Strong clinical judgment; excellent time management; ability to prioritize a 4-6 patient assignment; compassionate communication with patients experiencing cognitive or physical deficits; team-oriented mindset.
