## Description

**About Coinmetro**

Coinmetro is the primary regulated operational entity of the Coinmetro Group within the European market. We are currently in the process of obtaining a license from the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA) under the MiCA framework, with a view to starting operations in July 2026.

We have maintained a strict, no-nonsense compliance culture since we started in 2018. We do not cut corners. Right now, we are taking that existing foundation and adapting it to meet the specific requirements of Malta and the MFSA. You will not be inheriting a perfectly tailored Maltese compliance machine from day one; you will be the one building and executing the operational framework to ensure we launch with an airtight standard that meets all regulatory expectations.

**The Role**

Coinmetro is seeking an MLRO to take independent operational leadership of our AML/CTF framework for our Malta CASP. You will act as the primary liaison between Coinmetro and the Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) and the MFSA. This role requires you to work permanently in Malta and secure Fit and Proper approval from the MFSA.

**Core Responsibilities**

- Investigate escalations and submit Suspicious Activity and Transaction Reports (SAR/STR) to the FIAU.
- Act as the designated senior management authority for approving the onboarding of Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs), their Relatives and Close Associates (RCAs), and customers located in high-risk jurisdictions.
- Own and conduct the AML/CFT risk assessment component of Coinmetro's annual Business-Wide Risk Assessment.
- Draft quarterly MLRO compliance reports and present them directly to the Board of Directors.
- Maintain oversight of customer due diligence, AML screening, and transaction monitoring, while coordinating mandatory AML/CTF training for all staff.

## Requirements

- Permanent resident in Malta with the professional background necessary to pass the MFSA's Fit and Proper assessment.
- Direct experience managing AML/CTF operations within a regulated financial or crypto-asset institution.
- Practical experience filing reports via the FIAU's goAML system.
- Deep working knowledge of Maltese/EU AML legislation and the incoming MiCA regulatory standards.
- Comfortable with a hybrid/remote setup, requiring a strong capacity for self-directed work.

**How to Apply**

Please skip the traditional cover letter. Submit your CV or fill out your profile on the application platform, and include your answers to these two questions:

1. In two sentences, how would you address a sudden, unexplained spike in unhosted wallet deposits from a historically low-risk customer?
2. In two sentences, explain how you would resolve a situation where the operations team insists a newly implemented AML control is causing an unacceptable backlog and impacting the customer experience.

## Benefits

-   The freedom to execute your own ideas in a relaxed environment made up of passionate and motivated colleagues;
- Competitive base pay + other bonuses
-   Loads of room for career development, working with experienced people in an international company;
-   A unique opportunity to join the fintech sector, helping us to drive the transformational growth of the crypto industry;
- Work location is in Malta or remotely
