## Description

**SYNTAX IT Group** is looking for a **Java Software Engineer** to join our team and develop software solutions for the insurance sector. The **ideal** candidate will have hands-on experience in Java web development and a solid understanding of object-oriented programming, web technologies, software testing, and clean coding principles.

  

Working within a **Scrum** framework, the position also includes contribution to software development projects, team collaboration, and maintaining high standards of code quality. This role also offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise, develop your skills, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our software solutions.

  

**Key Responsibilities**

  

-   Design, develop, and maintain high-quality Java Web applications.
-   Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to analyze requirements and deliver effective software solutions.
-   Develop and enhance front-end components using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and related web technologies.
-   Perform unit and integration testing to ensure software quality and reliability.
-   Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to maintain code quality and improve existing applications.
-   Work within a Scrum framework, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and software delivery.
-   Maintain applications, resolve issues, and support performance optimization.
-   Keep up to date with new technologies, frameworks, and software development practices.
-   Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

  

**Skills & Qualifications:**

  

-   Hands-on experience in Java web development using technologies such as JSP, JSF, Apache Struts, GWT, Apache Wicket, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
-   Strong knowledge of Java and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles such as inheritance, encapsulation, and abstraction.
-   Basic understanding of unit and integration testing practices (no preference on tools).
-   Familiarity with coding principles and best practices such as SOLID, KISS, and DRY.
-   Basic understanding of the Scrum framework.
-   Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  

**Nice to have:**

  

-   Basic knowledge of TypeScript / Angular
-   Basic knowledge of Groovy
-   Solid experience with testing using Spock
-   Basic knowledge of testing frameworks/tools such as Playwright and Cucumber
-   Basic knowledge of Bootstrap
-   Basic familiarity with CMS platforms (any kind)
-   Basic understanding of the insurance domain

Excellent communication and presentation skills, both orally and written in Greek and English.
