## Description

**INTRODUCTION:**

elseco is a high technology specialty insurance underwriting agency and Lloyd’s Coverholder. 

elseco underwrites on behalf of circa 50 insurance and reinsurance companies including Lloyd’s syndicates.  elseco is headquartered in the Dubai International Financial Centre (Dubai, UAE) and is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority.  The company employs around 120 professionals with regulated offices in Dubai and London.

The company was founded two decades ago launching Space insurance and has since diversified into Aviation, Accident & Health and Energy insurance. 

At the cornerstone of elseco’s latest evolution is the technology “Platform” development namely “ATOM”. It sits at the very core of the company and is seen as business critical to the company’s future success and growth plans.

**Specific duties and responsibilities**:

Working with the Space team in Dubai and London to strengthen and build robust processes on underwriting and claims:

• Technical analysis of platform and payload specifications for new and renewal incoming insurance placements, with an emphasis on communication and observation payloads;

• Development and maintenance of elseco proprietary space technical database to ensure accuracy and integrity of data;

• Use of elseco database and relevant third-party databases to develop models and statistics on Space risks;

• Perform analysis and sensitivity testing of space insurance policy loss criteria;

• Support the Claims Manager in analysing the technical aspects of failure and impact to the policy, plus perform calculations of all space claims within the parameters of the loss criteria;

• Attend technical briefings and market meetings as and when required, draft technical questions and prepare summaries;

• Promote the elseco brand at all times and cross collaborate across the organization;

• Issuing quotes in line with Delegated Authority rules and internal processes

• Space Risk data capture in ATOM (proprietary system) and analysis

• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients

• Promotion of the brand in the space industry and insurance market, including content production and participation to conferences, roadshows and market events

• Participation to Risk Assessment: including but not limited to: New Business, Renewals, endorsements to current policies, always working within the Underwriting Authority agreement framework and the Underwriters

• Involved in end-to-end risk review, including policy wording analysis, pricing adequacy, satellite health report review, historical loss ratio analysis and line size determination

• Contributes to the acquisition and entry of all relevant space risk data in the ATOM platform

## Requirements

• Degree educated (in Aerospace or Payload Engineering or related field);

• 8-10 years of experience in satellite manufacturing, predominantly on payload system design and engineering.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft software applications and demonstrated experience and interest in automated processes and systems.

• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; ability to effectively translate and communicate complex technical specifications.

• Team player and ability to offer differing opinions in a respectful setting;

• Meticulous, hardworking ethic, positive can-do attitude, displaying strong mental agility, curiosity and having independent judgement;

• Professional approach, self-motivated and takes initiatives to find solutions;

• Maintain and develop excellent Engineering and or Space insurance product knowledge;

• Ability to learn and understand new technologies;
