## Description

Our client, a wholly owned Zambian Microfinance Institution licensed and regulated by the Bank of Zambia, is looking to hire a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead their team. The CEO will provide strategic leadership and executive management that ensures sustainable growth, profitability, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, effective risk management, and long-term business sustainability. The CEO will also lead the implementation of the Board-approved strategy while fostering a high-performance culture and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

**Key Tasks and Responsibilities**

**Corporate Governance**

-   Implement Board-approved policies, resolutions, and strategic decisions.
-   Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the Board.
-   Ensure compliance with corporate governance principles and regulatory requirements.
-   Promote ethical conduct, accountability, and transparency throughout the institution.

**Strategic Planning**

-   Lead the development, implementation, monitoring, and review of the Strategic Plan.
-   Drive innovation, transformation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
-   Identify growth opportunities and emerging market trends.
-   Ensure achievement of strategic and business objectives.

**Operations Management**

-   Oversee the efficient delivery of financial products and services.
-   Monitor branch and departmental performance.
-   Promote operational efficiency and customer service excellence.
-   Ensure effective utilisation of organisational resources.

**Credit and Portfolio Management**

-   Provide oversight of credit operations and portfolio performance.
-   Ensure adherence to approved credit policies and procedures.
-   Monitor portfolio quality and maintain acceptable Portfolio at Risk (PAR) levels.
-   Oversee loan recovery and collections strategies.

**Business Development and Marketing**

-   Drive customer acquisition, retention, and business growth initiatives.
-   Develop strategic partnerships and business opportunities.
-   Enhance the institution's market presence and brand visibility.
-   Lead initiatives aimed at increasing market share and profitability.

**Financial Management**

-   Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
-   Monitor financial performance, liquidity, and profitability.
-   Ensure prudent financial management and accountability.
-   Drive sustainable revenue growth and cost optimisation.

**Risk Management and Compliance**

-   Establish and maintain an effective enterprise risk management framework.
-   Ensure compliance with Bank of Zambia regulations and other applicable laws.
-   Monitor strategic, operational, financial, and credit risks.
-   Ensure timely implementation of audit and regulatory recommendations.

**Human Capital Management**

-   Foster a high-performance and results-driven culture.
-   Support talent development, succession planning, and employee engagement.
-   Ensure implementation of performance management systems.
-   Promote positive employee and industrial relations.

**Stakeholder Management**

-   Serve as the principal representative and spokesperson of the institution.
-   Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, shareholders, customers, investors, and strategic partners.
-   Protect and enhance the institution's reputation and corporate image

## Requirements

-   Full Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate with five (5) credits or better, including English Language and Mathematics (ZAQA certified copy).
-   Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Banking, Commerce, Management, Law, or a related field (ZAQA certified copy).
-   A Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Finance, Economics, Strategic Management, Leadership, or an equivalent qualification will be an added advantage (ZAQA certified copy).
-   Membership to a relevant professional body with a valid practising licence.
-   Minimum of ten (10) years' relevant experience in banking, microfinance, financial services, or a related sector, with at least five (5) years at senior management or executive leadership level.
-   Demonstrated experience in strategic leadership, business development, financial management, and stakeholder engagement.
-   Sound understanding of the microfinance industry and its regulatory environment.
-   Strong leadership, corporate governance, decision-making, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
-   High levels of integrity, professionalism, analytical thinking, and confidentiality.
-   Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant business systems.
-   Membership to a relevant professional body with a valid practising licence will be an added advantage.
