Our success is driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and doing things the right way. As UWorld continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our Finance & Accounting team and play a key role in maintaining the financial integrity and operational effectiveness of the organization.

### Position Overview

The Accounting Manager is a key member of UWorld's Finance & Accounting leadership team and will report directly to the Controller. This role will oversee core accounting operations, tax and compliance, financial reporting, audit activities, and accounting process improvements.

We are looking for a seasoned accounting professional who can operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and confidently navigate complex accounting and tax matters. The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting expertise with strong leadership, business acumen, and a continuous-improvement mindset.

This is a hands-on leadership position. The successful candidate will not simply oversee the accounting function—they will understand the details, identify opportunities to improve processes, develop their team, and serve as a trusted partner to the CFO and business leaders across UWorld.

- Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes.
- Review complex and non-routine accounting transactions and provide guidance on appropriate accounting treatment.
- Monitor accounting activities to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and UWorld's accounting policies and procedures.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
- Partner with department leaders to monitor budgets, analyze financial performance, and identify opportunities for improved financial management.
- Review financial activity and investigate unusual transactions, variances, and trends.
- Establish priorities, assign projects, and provide direction to accounting team members to ensure accuracy and timely completion of work.
- Serve as a resource to accounting staff on complex accounting issues and problem resolution.
- Identify potential accounting risks and proactively recommend solutions.

### Tax & Compliance — 20%

- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual tax compliance activities to ensure timely and accurate filings.
- Prepare and/or review federal and state income tax filings and related entity/member tax requirements.
- Prepare and/or review monthly sales and payroll tax filings.
- Prepare quarterly income tax estimates and related calculations.
- Manage state and local tax registrations, business licenses, payroll withholding accounts, sales tax registrations, and related compliance requirements.
- Monitor changes in federal and state tax requirements and assess their impact on UWorld.
- Respond to federal, state, and local tax notices and coordinate timely resolution.
- Partner with external tax advisors and other professional service providers as needed.
- Maintain organized and accurate documentation supporting tax filings and compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve UWorld's tax processes, controls, and compliance practices.

### Financial Reporting & Audit — 20%

- Own and oversee accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close activities.
- Ensure the timely preparation and reporting of entity-level and consolidated financial information.
- Review financial statements and supporting schedules for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Perform and/or oversee monthly account reconciliations and variance analysis.
- Develop and maintain an organized, efficient system for financial records and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with external auditors throughout the annual audit process.
- Prepare and review audit schedules, supporting documentation, and responses to auditor requests.
- Serve as a key point of contact for management regarding financial reporting questions and special reporting requests.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting processes.

- Establish appropriate accounting methods and ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
- Investigate process breakdowns, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with the CFO on special projects, financial analyses, and strategic process improvement initiatives.
- Help build accounting infrastructure that can support UWorld's continued growth.

### Leadership & People Development — 10%

- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team.
- Create a collaborative environment that encourages accountability, continuous learning, and professional growth.
