## Description

We are looking for a Chief Commercial Officer to join the senior leadership team of the Micro:bit Educational Foundation at an exciting moment in our growth.

Reporting to the CEO, you will own the Foundation's commercial strategy and be the driving force behind revenue growth — enabling us to invest in product development, teacher support, and initiatives that reach underrepresented groups around the world.

A significant portion of the Foundation's income comes from royalties generated by licensing the micro:bit technology to our commercial partners. Your role will be to grow that revenue base, develop new income streams, and ensure commercial thinking is embedded across the organisation.

This is a new role, and the right candidate will be entrepreneurial and mission-driven — someone who understands that success here is measured not just in revenue, but in tangible impact on children and educators globally. If you're a purely traditional commercial operator, this probably isn't the role for you. If you're excited by the challenge of building growth models that serve a social mission, we'd love to hear from you.

This is a full-time position, but we are open to alternate working patterns. We take a flexible, collaborative approach to how we work. If you're the right person, we'll do our best to make it work for you. We also don't expect candidates to meet every requirement listed — if you can demonstrate strength across most of them, please apply.

**Main Responsibilities**

Commercial Strategy & Leadership

- Develop and own the Foundation's commercial strategy, ensuring it aligns with and advances the organisation's mission.

- Bring a commercial perspective to future product development and organisational strategy.

- Identify and explore new commercial opportunities, partnerships and income models.

- As a member of the senior leadership team, contribute to strategic direction, culture and values.

Growth & Revenue

- Drive growth in commercial revenue, with accountability for performance against targets.

- Develop and execute targeted growth strategies for priority countries and territories, working closely with the global partnerships team.

- Maximise relationships with global manufacturers and distributors, activating the Foundation's sales network.

- Grow existing routes to market — particularly the Channel Partner programme — and identify new channels.

- Work cross-functionally, especially with the partnerships and marketing teams, to maximise commercial opportunities.

Compliance & Supply Chain

- Work with global manufacturing partners to ensure supply chain resilience and uphold best practice in manufacturing.

- Lead on product compliance, working with the Foundation's compliance manager and external partners to develop and deliver a robust compliance strategy.

## Requirements

What We're Looking For

- 10+ years of senior commercial leadership, with a clear track record of creating and delivering strategy that has led to sustained growth.

- Experience in edtech, hardware, or a not-for-profit or social enterprise setting.

- The ability to operate commercially within a mission-led organisation, keeping impact on children and educators at the centre of decision-making.

- A demonstrable commitment to the Foundation's mission and values.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to build coalitions and generate momentum.

- Strong communication skills — articulate and able to translate complex information for diverse audiences.

- Experience building and leading diverse, remote teams.

- A track record of working collaboratively across functions to achieve shared goals.

- Experience leading commercial initiatives across international markets, with strong cultural awareness and the ability to drive performance across globally distributed teams.

- Experience working within a small, scaling or start-up organisation.

### How to apply

Please apply with a covering letter of no more than 2 pages describing how you meet the skills and experience described and sending us your CV before 9am on the 20th July 2026. We expect to hold first round interviews over the week commencing 27th July and second round interviews over the weeks commencing 3rd and 10th August.
