Navarro Research & Engineering is recruiting an **Environmental Scientist (Mid-Level)** (3884) in Oak Ridge, TN.

Location: Oak Ridge, TN (Local candidates preferred or willing to relocate)

This position is ideal for a mid-career professional with approximately 10 years of experience in environmental remediation and/or environmental compliance who can contribute both technically and strategically to project execution and proposal development.

Position Summary

The Environmental Scientist will support environmental remediation and compliance activities while playing a key role in developing technical content for proposals. The successful candidate will bring strong regulatory knowledge, hands-on field or analytical experience, and the ability to clearly communicate complex environmental concepts in written deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

-   Support environmental remediation and/or environmental compliance projects across federal and commercial programs
-   Contribute to and develop technical proposal content in collaboration with Business Development teams
-   Interpret and apply environmental regulations, including federal and state requirements, to ongoing and proposed work
-   Prepare technical reports, evaluations, and supporting documentation for environmental projects
-   Support groundwater remediation activities, including site characterization, corrective actions, and long-term monitoring
-   Perform or support groundwater modeling and data analysis (preferred)
-   Collaborate with engineers, scientists, project managers, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
-   Assist with project planning, data interpretation, and decision-making processes
-   Ensure work meets quality standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations

## Requirements

Required Qualifications

-   Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science, Geology, or a related scientific discipline
-   Approximately 8–12 years of relevant experience (mid-level experience)
-   Demonstrated experience in environmental remediation and/or environmental compliance
-   Experience supporting federal programs (DOE, DOD, or similar) preferred
-   Strong technical writing skills, including experience contributing to reports or proposals
-   Knowledge of applicable environmental regulations and compliance frameworks

Preferred Qualifications

-   Experience with groundwater remediation and/or groundwater modeling
-   Familiarity with site characterization, risk assessment, and corrective action strategies
-   Experience supporting proposal development or technical business development efforts
-   Advanced degree in environmental science or related field
-   Professional certifications (e.g., PG, CHMM, QEP)

Additional Requirements

-   Must be able to work onsite in Oak Ridge, TN (relocation assistance may be considered)
-   Due to the nature of government contract requirements, U.S. citizenship is required
