**International Airport of Heraklion, Crete S.A.** is currently looking for a:

**Senior Civil Engineer (Maintenance)**

**Responsibilities**

**Transition / Pre-Opening Phase**

-   Prepares, reviews, and maintains civil maintenance SOPs, procedures, inspection checklists, and work instructions for all civil assets.
-   Reviews civil design drawings, specifications, as-built documentation, and O&M manuals.
-   Supports civil asset handover from the Constructor, including documentation verification, defect / punch-list tracking, and defect close-out prior to takeover.
-   Establishes the airside pavement asset register and inspection zones for runway, taxiways, aprons, shoulders, service roads, and associated drainage interfaces.
-   Defines pavement inspection regimes and maintenance trigger levels for cracking, joint sealant failure, spalling, raveling, rutting / deformation, surface texture, ponding, FOD risk, rubber deposits, markings, and friction performance.
-   Participates actively in ORAT activities, including readiness inspections, trial operations, snagging, and defect reporting.
-   Supports preparation and updating of maintenance-related inputs to the Aerodrome Manual and other certification documentation.
-   Populates and validates civil asset data, inspection regimes, maintenance tasks, warranty data, and pavement condition records in the CMMS.

**Operational Phase**

-   Carries out routine inspections and condition assessments of airside and landside civil infrastructure.
-   Manages the airside pavement maintenance program, including pavement inspections, defect prioritization, repair planning, closure coordination, and follow-up of completed works.
-   Coordinates friction monitoring, reviews test results / mu-values, identifies maintenance triggers, and supports planning of rubber removal, surface treatment, or pavement repair works where required.
-   Plans and supervises preventive and corrective civil maintenance works.
-   Coordinates and monitors outsourced civil maintenance activities, specialist pavement inspection/testing agencies, and civil works contractors.
-   Supports management of defects during the Defect Liability Period (DLP) and warranty periods in coordination with the Head of Civil Works and the Head of Technical Standards & Contracts.
-   Maintains accurate CMMS records of inspections, defects, test results, work orders, maintenance activities, and pavement condition trends.
-   Provides technical support to Airport Operations and Safety teams on civil infrastructure, airside work planning, and safe operational handback matters.

**Requirements**

-   Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
-   Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Infrastructure, or Asset Management is considered an asset
-   7-10 years of professional experience in civil engineering, infrastructure maintenance, pavement engineering, or airport / transport infrastructure
-   Demonstrated experience in pavement condition assessment, defect classification, repair planning, and maintenance programming is required
-   Experience in airside pavement maintenance for runway, taxiway, apron, or other heavy-duty pavement areas is strongly preferred
-   Experience in friction monitoring of road or airside pavements is strongly preferred
-   Good knowledge of airside pavement inspection, condition assessment, defect classification, and maintenance programming
-   Strong understanding of civil infrastructure maintenance, asset lifecycle concepts, and airport operational constraints
-   Proven ability to prepare and manage maintenance SOPs, procedures, inspection regimes, and work instructions
-   Understanding friction monitoring, mu-value interpretation, rubber deposit control, surface texture, pavement markings, drainage, and FOD-related pavement risks
-   Very good command of English and Greek language, both oral and written
